RO// Ziua 2 la OM: Ne-am bucurat să vedem atât de mulți oameni împreună la deschiderea expoziției „Coregrafia forței”, în care artistul Szilárd Gáspár aduce boxul, sculptura și performance-ul în același spațiu.

Mulțumiri speciale lui Szilárd Gáspár și curatoarei Andra Handaric pentru expoziție, @meron.gallery și tuturor celor care au venit, au descoperit lucrările și au contribuit la atmosfera serii. Ne-a făcut mare plăcere să fim împreună!

ENG// It was a pleasure to see so many people come together for the opening of “Choreography of Force”, an exhibition in which artist Szilárd Gáspár brings boxing, sculpture, and performance into the same space.

Special thanks to Szilárd Gáspár and curator Andra Handaric for the exhibition, and to everyone who came, explored the works, and contributed to the atmosphere of the evening. It was lovely having you all there!

RO// Înainte de a fi sculptor și performer, Szilárd Gáspár a fost boxer profesionist. În „Coregrafia Forței”, experiența aceasta nu rămâne doar biografie, ci pătrunde direct în lucrare.

Corpul și mișcarea devin puncte de plecare pentru o expoziție despre forță, limite, memorie, granițe și eliberare. Gáspár transformă energia fizică a luptei într-un limbaj artistic și pune în relație sportul, sculptura și performance-ul.

În centrul expoziției rămâne corpul ca purtător al experienței: un corp care acumulează tensiune, memorie și gest și care poate transforma forța într-o altă formă de expresie.

ENG// Before becoming a sculptor and performer, Szilárd Gáspár was a professional boxer. In “Choreography of Force”, that experience does not remain simply biographical. It enters the work itself.

Body and movement become the starting points for an exhibition about force, limits, memory, boundaries and liberation.

Gáspár transforms the physical energy of combat into an artistic language, bringing sport, sculpture and performance into dialogue.

At the centre of the exhibition is the body as a carrier of experience: a body that accumulates tension, memory and gesture, and can transform force into another form of expression.

The exhibition remains open until November 17 and can be visited daily from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

We're happy to introduce the curators of the exhibition 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁, opening this Thursday at 19:00!

Andra Handaric, moves between the roles of curator, artist, and designer, approaching intersectionality as a modus operandi within her practice. Her research focuses on the ways objects mediate relationships between people, memory, and cultural systems of meaning, exploring through curatorial discourse the convergences between material culture, theoretical inquiry, and anthropological perspectives on materiality.

She studied at the Istituto Europeo di Design (Barcelona), the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, and the École Supérieure d’Art et Design Saint-Étienne, and recently completed an MA in Contemporary Curatorial Practices at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. Her curatorial projects investigate the liminal spaces between object, image, and experience, approaching the exhibition as a site of inquiry into identity, materiality, and contemporary modes of existence.

𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 is a group exhibition that explores the increasingly blurred line between work and personal life. By drawing on both real and virtual spaces, it demonstrates the overwhelming simultaneity of information, which ultimately makes it difficult to decipher even the simplest forms of language and carry out the most routine tasks. When the workday never ends, what actually survives behind the glass walls?

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming group exhibition, featuring works by Andrei Arion, Cristina Chirilă, Radu Cioca, Carla David, Anastasia Dumitrescu, Albert Kaan, Vlad Oniga, Carmen Parii, Kata Ungvári-Zrínyi and Sorin Valea, and curated by Andra Handaric @andrahandaric and Karina Ganea @karighani.

The opening will take place Thursday, July 16th, 7 PM, at MATCA artspace @matcaartspace - Calea Turzii 21, Cluj-Napoca (RO).

art/if/acts.Spirit, Residual • an exhibition I curated for @romaniancreativeweek.ro as emerging curator of @praxis_ecd •
It started from questions regarding the fluidity of artistic practice, in-between spaces and artworks as embodiment of both the corporeal and the spiritual, seen as artefacts that carry the soul of their times.
The title, a wordplay with double meaning, ‘artifacts’/ ‘art if acts’ refers to the idea of artworks as active agents that can influence the dynamics of society, a theory that Alfred Gell refers to as ‘art nexus’.

Expoziția explorează momentul în care impulsul creator precede forma, acel spațiu tensionat în care spiritul începe să capete corp. Materia devine astfel locul în care gestul, presiunea, repetiția și acumularea transformă forțe invizibile în prezențe tangibile.

Lucrările reunite cartografiază moduri diferite prin care această energie se traduce în formă: de la forța brută imprimată în materie și rigoarea repetitivă a gestului, la structuri sculpturale precise sau acumulări simbolice care generează universuri vizuale dense. Expoziția propune astfel o reflecție asupra relației dintre corp, materie și spirit, unde materialele păstrează memoria gestului, iar suprafețele devin martorii unei tensiuni continue între imaterial și formă.

În acest spațiu aproape ritualic, lucrările apar ca artefacte contemporane, urme ale unei energii care circulă între corp, materie și percepție, transformând experiența privitorului într-un act de participare la acest schimb subtil de forțe.
