Rust dye on freshly felted fleece. Made an iron bath from bits of rusted metal I’ve collected over the last 5 years (plus rainwater & vinegar), soaked this hand-felted churro wool in it and then set the felt on this piece of rusted metal while the sun worked her magic. Finished with a ph neutralizing rinse. So excited about how this turned out! Will be dyeing more and adding these to my #gatheredandfeltnm installation. by @andreadupree

Ever work on something so long you forget the original vision? That’s what happened with this project. Still a ways to go, but finally starting to see the light at the end of tunnel (or maybe it’s the light of the original vision?? 🤷🏻‍♀️) 6.5’x9’ made entirely of hand-felted churro fleece (and dreams about how to put it all together). Next step is more quilting the panels and fluffy fringe together, adding more metallic embroidery and stitching on some rusted elements. This felt field is feeling fertile, focused and fun again 🐑🍂 #gatheredandfeltnm #navajochurro #handfelted by @andreadupree

This felt panel expands my felting practice both physically and conceptually, emerging as an exploration of the archetypal field, a space where inner and outer worlds meet. Made from Navajo-Churro wool combined with water, pressure, movement, and time, the work exists less as an image than as an embodied field of encounter. ⁠
