Hey Santa Feans, have you met Andrea Dupree? Perhaps you viewed her otherworldly feltworks exhibited at El Zaguan and at Little Bites Gallery recently. We are excited to host Andrea as a guest teacher at @oliverushstudio this October! Read on to learn more about this artist and the class she is offering on October 3rd 👉🏼

Andrea explores the relationships between humans, nature, memory, and the unseen through felted sculpture, embroidery, installation, and land-based practices. She works with wool, plant fibers, and found materials, creating textured forms that function as contemporary altars 🧿👉🏼

Her work invites reflection, ritual, and reconnection. Rooted in animism, ecofeminism, and ecological attunement, she approaches materials as collaborators, allowing intuitive processes to guide the emergence of form.👉🏼

On October 3rd, Andrea will offer a hands-on exploration of the ancient art of wet felting.

You’ll be guided to create a unique sculptural felted vessel that can hold treasured objects, natural collections, or simply serve as a reminder of time spent creating with others.

Participants will experience the slow, satisfying transformation of loose fibers into a strong, seamless form through layering, movement, and patience. Along the way, Andrea will share the fundamentals of wet felting & offer individualized guidance while encouraging attunement with materials, curiosity and playful experimentation.

Every felted piece is shaped by hand, one fiber at a time. Layer by layer, thousands of tiny movements bring shape, texture, and life to something that once existed only in the wool of a sheep. This slow handcrafted art is uniquely sustainable and being intimately inside the studio of Andrea Dupree made me recognize how important the process is to the final work of art.

Thank you @andreadupree @curious_maximalist for inviting me inside your world to have some styling fun in action. Looking forward to doing the pop up next to you @mottainai_santafe and having you on the radio @truetaosradio 7/31!

Remembering the Carrot Garden by the Train Tracks
wool, metal brooch
10 x 2 x 2 inches

This needle-felted brooch is inspired by a small carrot garden I remember from childhood, beside the train tracks in our backyard. The trains were loud, fast, and impossible to ignore, yet somehow the garden still offered peace.

I cry too sometimes
wool, metal brooch
8 x 7 x 1.5 inches

Part weather, part emotional landscape, this is a reminder that our own emotional weather patterns are part of being alive. Are the tears from sorrow, relief, gratitude, anger, wonder, or joy? Perhaps all of them at once.

Made through the slow process of needle felting, this wearable sculpture was created by repeatedly stabbing loose wool fibers with a barbed needle until they formed a dense shape.

Home, Carried Softly
wool, thread, metal brooch
5 x 2.5 x 2 inches

This needle-felted shoulder brooch imagines home as something we build from fragments of experience and carry with us wherever we go. Inspired by the spiral form of a snail shell, it is needle felted from layers of wool and remnants of past projects that wrap around one another like gathered memories, stories, and moments of belonging.

Designed to rest on the shoulder, the piece serves as a gentle companion and reminder that home is not always a place. Sometimes it is a collection of relationships, landscapes, and memories that travel with us. Soft yet sturdy, it celebrates our ability to create shelter, comfort, and connection wherever we find ourselves.

Available here &/or at @mottainai_santafe 's anniversary popup on Sunday 7/12/26 12-4
