Proud to be part of the fanzine “Baby go”, the first edition of “And other chapters” series, created by Cesura Publish.

Revolving around a spiral, “Baby Go” reflects on the circularity of everyday life within the collective: a perpetual artistic and personal learning cycle brimming with ups and downs. Alternating photographs by fifteen of Cesura’s mentees, the fanzine inaugurates Cesura Publish’s new series, “And Other Chapters.”

Uno dei tanti modi in cui ti vedo. 
Cesare Basile (Catania, Sicily, ’64) is definitely one of the most distinguished and innovative Italian artists of the past decades. Throughout the thirty years of his career ha has successfully created a unique and original language of “Blues”, eventually settling on the use of a dark and archaic Sicilian dialect which he uses to represent the affliction of human people and the scream of pain of a population robbed of its dignity and self-determination. Basile’s preferred subjects deal with stories of love and of anarchy, aiming to describe the defeated and the miserable, drawing the right inspiration from certain types of African music and creating a common theme uniting the Sicilian language, the pain of the defeated and the oppressed, and Africa, considered universally as the cradle of human civilisation.

Palmina is a woman living in the heart of Cosenza Vecchia, a neighborhood now forgotten by most of its inhabitants. At six in the morning, when the air is still cool, she goes out to gather wild edible plants along the slopes of the Castello Svevo. She moves through the streets of her neighborhood with ease, knowing exactly what grows and where. 
Some of my shots from this residency became part of the 84 prints of the I Talìa project by @CESURA_ in the @Museo_MUNAF archive.

Sambuco was born from a residency in San Benedetto Ullano, Calabria, where Donatella and her four daughters opened their intimacy to my gaze. Memories of ancestral female rituals, rooted in care, resilience, and spirituality, take shape through the maternal body. Recurring symbols marked the beginning of my own path of healing and transformation.

Some images from this residency became part of the 84 prints of the I Talìa project by @CESURA, now held in the @Museo_MUNAF archive.

snapshots from my phone archive. i spent three weeks in Calabria with @camilla.pedretti, @sala__alessandro and @mrz.zanella for the Photobuster I Talìa residency. Huge thanks to my family, @CESURA_, for believing in me.

A great privilege was being able to include 8 of my shots from this residency among the 84 prints of the I Talìa project by @CESURA_ in the @Museo_MUNAF archive.

I Talìa / Cosenza Photobuster has come to an end!
Don’t miss this Friday the screening of I Lupi by @AndreeaNicotra, @Camilla.Pedretti, @Sala__Alessandro, and Marco Zanella (@mrz.zanella) during @FotografiaCalabriaFestival.

📅 August 1st – 9 PM
📍 Piazza Monumento, San Lucido (CS)

Cosenza should be isolated and protected on all sides by mountains, yet it instead opens up to the heart of a wild territory, crossed by wolves who have undoubtedly left their traces. Over the past weeks, the residency gave shape to “I Lupi”, a collective narrative built from visual fragments that chase and respond to one another — much like the bridges of Cosenza: structures that both divide and connect.

Mennula Amara is an ongoing project about the story of Sicilian stick’s art and its protagonists, whose scenary is bitter Sicily, a Sicily crushed and barbarically humiliated by the power.
It tells the story of an ancient native fighting technique, developed in the agricultural and pastoral context of the 13th century and still surviving despite a long period in hiding. The soul of this art is the Sicilian stick, carefully chosen from island’s wild plants in specific seasons, hardened and shaped by fire. Master Alfio Di Bella dances and twirls the stick in circles, creating vortices in the air and exploding in powerful and straight thrusts. His movements seem to describe the true essence of these lands, an elegant and harmonious composition in contrast to chaos and the unpredictability of fate. These are also movements of a particular kind of life, constantly tending towards an impossible perfection, one step after another, waiting for the right moment.
