Performer Jean -Francois Py.
A week with fantastic men ,exploring boundaries ,opening ourselves to radical play, what if and perhaps.
The garments, the fabric, the constructed shape aren’t disguise. They’re instruction and discovery. The body reacts before the mind decides to perform, and what surfaces in costume gets tested .
The ageing male body is rarely allowed to be its own subject. It’s often a story about loss, dignity slipping away, or comedy at its own expense.
Thank you @1789.py for open ,generous collaboration.Thank you to our host @uillinnwestcorkarts for making it possible and investing in the work . by @andrew7coombs

I am currently on a resident research week @uillinnwestcorkarts working with men aged 60 +on solo performance through costume, textile, and clowning exploring how “dressing up” unlocks movement and identity in bodies that have never called themselves dancers.
None of the men are performers by training. The solo performances centre the body as it is ,every body worthy of being seen, without visibility through skill.

The ageing male body is rarely allowed to be its own subject. It’s often a story about loss, dignity slipping away, or comedy at its own expense. This work is trying to refuse both readings without pretending the body isn’t changing. Ageing is present in the room. It just isn’t the whole story. by @andrew7coombs

I am delighted to be offering a workshop at To the Waters & the Wild, a midsummer gathering exploring nature connection, community, movement, creativity and embodied practice.

Let the movement pour off our bones ,practicing doing less ,melting into motion .of course accompanied by a delicious sound score .

TO THE WATERS & THE WILD

An invitation into a deeply embodied conversation with land, water and wildness, and a chance to follow the call of wild-hearted curiosity into a deeper sense of belonging, wonder and communion with the living world.

For four days we gather on the beautiful coastal nature reserve of An Sanctóir, Ballydehob, West Cork, for a weekend of movement, music, voice, touch, nature connection, ritual, creativity, rest and community.

Together we slow down, reconnect and rediscover our place within the living world.

📍 An Sanctóir, Ballydehob, West Cork

📅 26–29 June

🏕 Camping, glamping and limited indoor accommodation available
