My design sheet for the big bad that we cooked up for “DC GO: Runway to Ruin”! This might be my first original contribution to DC lore (rather than a remix) which is a huge honor.

Working from Patrick R. Young’s script and notes, I wanted to visually link King Cringe to the Silver Age Flash’s Golden Giants (and more recently Zundernell and the play-obsessed Quing from Grant Morrison & Liam Sharp’s Green Lantern run,) other all-powerful golden beings in DC’s cosmology. There’s also a potential connection to the emotional spectrum that you can read into!

Since it’s a crossover with multiple artists, we wanted a design that was both memorable and flexible enough to work in different styles, hence the horned silhouette paired with a very fluid cartoon aesthetics.

This guy is the definition of unhinged, has virtually unlimited powers, and has a lot of 5D energy. He’s going to cause a lot of trouble for our heroes in the coming weeks! taken in Manhattan, New York by @andrewdrilon
