When you THOUGHT you had it, you realize that was just the preliminaries. The warm-up to see if you can advance! 👀 Learning I have to Get Up and Reset Daily!!!! Soo…I am having to Start ALL over... Again. 🌊
-
January 16th is the personification of walking with joy and sadness. I share the birth of my son Elijah-Alavi @elijahsecho with The Finer Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated @zphibinc1920 Founders’ Day. Today, the two crashed into each other in a way I thought I was unprepared for. However, God whispered and reminded me I WAS and I AM ready to Start all over again. We have done the work! I have gained new tools and adding more to my tool belt - thank you @carinadmaye 🥹🫂.
-
Whew. I was reminded of my weakness; I am brave enough to start all over again with God. Learning how to make space for two of the most amazing moments of my life to be shared has NOT been an easy transition, but alas, God! When I am weak, HIS STRENGTH is sufficient!
-
I live in some of my answered prayers, and that's better than none. I am learning to embrace disappointment and triumph at the same time. I also understand God's shoulders are big enough for my heartbreak and brokenness, but alas, I serve a God that comforts me and walk alongside me, and today, I could get out of bed and be of service!
-
Cheers to learning how to start ALL over again. I am grateful to the wonderful people that God has placed in my life to go through life challenges and joy. I hope this gently inspires someone to trust God with their difficult walk through this life, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for God! There is something about the name Jesus. And if you are taking a walk with God, do not stop, you may not see results just yet, but I assure you, the walk is worth it, change does happen when you put your faith to work. James 2:26

It is clear @culturecon is for the community, as they listen to feedback and make adjustments for those of us attending.

When I tell you I met some amazing people this weekend, shout-out to @imaniimani for having the vision and using her gift to connect the creatives and the community, and to the entire @culturecon team for putting this all together.
-
Yes, the Culture Stage was on fire, but we need to talk a little bit more about that Career Playground! That place was on fire…come on, Brain Dates. (I missed mine, but that is alright) I would love to see that again and have an opportunity to sign up for others as well (I have some ideas on that 🙃). But that Career Lounge where we were asked to sit, connect with people, and create?! YES 10/10 I will take it in every color! ( I missed the Brain Date, but the Career Lounge...God had other plans for me 🙌🏾) I met some amazing people there and even made connections that I truly believe will continue long after all the signage is taken down. I even met a Soror (hey Houston), truly divine 🙌🏾!
-
The Creative Business Stage was also on fire! Shout out to @kensingtongrey for keeping it real, because it's true: if someone is going to work with you, they should believe in the vision and want to see it actualized as much as you do. They should have the same fire, if not a likkle more, to see the vision come to life; and those three tips on why someone would want to manage, or an agency would be interested? Those are the kinds of tips that are useful, and I know people walked away knowing exactly what they need to do if they are serious about their content! You did not gatekeep!
-
@culturecon is a place to be inspired or inspire someone! A place where strangers feel like friends for a few hours, and some even become friends; I feel like I met some new friends for sure, and y'all know they say it's difficult making friends as an adult, wellllll this space helps us to find our community 🫢😎! I know I was introduced to a few new places I'll keep patronizing, and I will stay in contact with others. 🙌🏾
-
Until next time, I have work to do. And to all those who made connections, follow up! (That go by @androgyd

President Dina Hawthorne and Vice President Thomas Silvera will be speaking at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem for Grand Rounds, where they will be presenting on anaphylaxis awareness, recognizing the signs, saving lives, and their why: their mission and purpose for The Elijah-Alavi Foundation and the impact of the collaborative work that has positively impacted the community.

They will be speaking with hospital staff, including members of the Pediatrics and Medicine teams, about recognizing, preventing, and responding to food-allergy-related anaphylaxis.

This one is especially emotional for the founders of The Elijah-Alavi Foundation.

This is more than a presentation; it’s about education, preparedness, accountability, and saving lives.

To everyone who participated in our First Annual Each One Teach One: How to Save a Life event, we want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.

This was more than an event. It was a day of learning, connection, preparedness, and community. Together, we created a space where people could learn lifesaving skills, ask questions, share experiences, and walk away better prepared to respond when seconds matter.

A special thank you to all of our incredible sponsors, donors, volunteers, community partners, instructors, first responders, and everyone who showed up, participated and helped make this possible:

Thank you. Your support helped make this first annual event so meaningful for the Elijah-Alavi Foundation. Our mission has always been simple: Each One Teach One. When one person learns, they can teach another. When more people are prepared, more lives can potentially be protected.

We are already preparing for our Second Annual Each One Teach One: How to Save a Life event next year, and we’re excited to make it even bigger while continuing to build a community where preparedness is not optional.

Stay tuned for what’s coming next! ❤️

If you or your organization would like to support or sponsor next year’s event, we would love to hear from you. tsilvera@elijahalavifoundation.org

How Ir Started vs…
Keynote: Be Prepared - Do It Scaredd
-
Being Scared and Afraid isn't the same thing. Empowered a group of people to Do It Scared as I Did it Heartbroken.
-
Before the makeup and the outfit changes - there was a lot of tears and praying.

Quick Change Again: With God's strength, I kept moving. I took a deep breath, and one of the attendees saw me and hugged me. This Keynote and Workshop was like none other. A wonderful woman named Tammie has been continuously supportive. 🥹 God continues to answer my prayers, providing me with hope that there are people and a community that do care deeply about the vision and mission of The Elijah-Alavi Foundation and are in a position to hold space for my big and quiet emotions.
-
I also must say I had the best time conducting the workshop ( all three of them). We laughed and chatted; it was so engaging, and I left knowing exactly where my feet were to land. God continues to choose me every day. He believed I could do it, even when I was heartbroken, and yesterday I took my first step, and I didn't do it alone.
-
In the last pic, I was trying to send sexy eyes to @scorpio02 😂 - FAILED! 🤷🏾‍♀️

Quick Change: The way I ran to change and get ready. Stepped into the warm light, struck a pose, and got back to it. Found myself checking to make sure the making is still sitting where I put it…and then found myself doing a vlog, but not following up with myself. 😂🤷🏾‍♀️ #publicspeaking by @androgyd
