When I was 18, I wrote a list of goals that I wanted to achieve by the time I was middle-aged. I told myself it was to fight the possibility of one day waking up and realizing I hated my life.

For the longest time, I felt like those goals were the destination.

That once I’ve checked them off, that life had meaning and that I would be happy. Over those years, I felt like I worked incessantly to achieve them at all cost - both physically, mentally, monetarily, and spiritually. And it costed me tremendously in all of those realms.

Looking back now, those years WERE the destination.

Each day building upon the previous one. The people, brands, and products built along the way were the main characters of my life and I’ve come to the realization that I’m but a speck of dust enjoying what God has to offer.

Some of those goals:
- Be the best husband and father that I could be
- Work with my best friends every day
- Look myself in the mirror and be proud of who I’ve become
- Do something I love
- Hunt, fish, and shoot as much as I possibly can
- Have as many children as I possibly can

The funniest of those goals is “Retire by age 35.” It was literally at the top of the list. One that I thought was the most important but probably was the most extrinsic. What a stupid goal.

Here’s to building, working hard, and experiencing life for as long as we humanly can.

The evolution of broth is here.

Evolution is not a moment. It is adaptation over time. Rep after rep, cycle after cycle, day after day.

Nothing evolves by staying comfortable.

For those who want broth built better.

I started fighting at 17.

Back then, recovery wasn’t a science. It wasn’t even really a conversation. I knew the words everyone knew. Electrolytes. Protein. But knowing a word isn’t the same as knowing your body. I couldn’t have told you what my body actually did with any of it. Why some mornings I woke up ready and others I woke up empty, when I’d done everything exactly the same.

There was no one to ask. The knowledge wasn’t where I trained. The resources didn’t exist yet. So I did what fighters do. I became my own experiment.

Two and three sessions a day, for twenty years. Paying attention to what held up and what fell apart.

What I could keep down after a hard cut. What let me walk into an evening session with something still in the tank. Most of what I learned came from getting it wrong first.

@drinkbeaune is a new venture, but the knowledge inside it isn’t. It’s two decades of blood, sweat, and trial and error, run in gyms that never had a nutritionist down the hall.

A lab can measure what’s in the can. Sodium. Potassium. Collagen. Protein. It can’t measure twenty years of finding out the hard way. by @andyctran
