I think I’m done for the moment, took it off the wall today, made a frame and stretched it. Added wire to hang.

So it now resides on my rejigged studio wall.
Came out at 1600mm x 1600mm which I think is the biggest oil I’ve worked on.

Yes it’s up for grabs in the very unlikely chance that anyone on here wants it. Don’t be afraid though a like love or comment will do. It means the world to know what you are doing strikes a cord.

Cheers

Hard not to be inspired when a couple of hundred artists descend on your city. It’s a bit infectious.
You may have seen me around, I was the one, nose 1 inch from the finished boards studying.
Questioning. Colour, delivery, narrative, finish.
How did they do that, more importantly how can I.
This is the result, an evolution in skill with a spray can. Better than ever before, a moment of learning.
I cannot describe the rollercoaster of emotional learning in this one piece. Elements could be better but it’s done what I need it to do right now.
I’ll post the process next, you’ll see how horror turns to beauty. A lesson of just stick with it.

Nihil Sine Labour, A self Portrait.

My Corps moto in the British Army, translates to Nothing Without Effort. I still stand by this.

A first true painting for me with palette knife. Acrylic paint on Canvas.
A symphony of colours, shapes and layered mark making.
A painting where I truly started without a known ending.
Pure graft and studied attentive descriptions of the face I now see in my reflection.
Completed in one session.

1.5m x 1.0m deep edge canvas.

As a commission I repainted a sold painting, more difficult than you’d imagine.
Mapping, colour, fades.

Day 2 for me sealed the deal.

10 hours in total for both days, paint roller and brush, trying to keep some areas in focus and some very loose.

Hopefully I’ve created a journey for your eyes, Girl, pier, wheel.

Obviously it’s my creative licence of Southend, I think it captures a certain feel quite nicely.

Thanks for all the chats if you stopped by.

Loved every moment.

Thank you Viv for the Leyland Paint again and Spray from Montana.

Looking forward to the rest of the creations appearing that adds to my own personal joy tank.

Southend will be a buzz this weekend.
