Thank you to @uncoveredcollective for creating the recent exhibition “Hypernormalisation”.

I think it’s been one of the best curated shows I’ve been involved with and a very high standard of work being shown. It’s been a very enjoyable experience all round and my congrats to all the other artists and a big thank you to everyone who came by to visit.

I really like the Safehouse 1 & 2 as a space, think it was a well suited backdrop for my work - hopefully will be back there again soon.

And now, big deep breath, reset the energy levels and onwards to the next one…

Honoured to be showing work in ‘hypernormalisation’ with the excellent @uncoveredcollective in their annual exhibition at @safehouse_1 &2

Please come down to the Private View Friday 26th September and say hello. It's also open all that weekend.

“Hypernormalisation is a state of being where people have become increasingly accustomed to bizarre and surreal events no longer seeing them as abnormal.

Characterised by a form of cognitive dissonance typified by people continuing to act as normal even though they know society is breaking down and the system around them is collapsing.”

Andy Grinham’s art explores hedonistic alternate realities where collective joy trumps individualism, creating portals into nightlife’s darker pleasures through installations using found materials like weathered wood, deteriorated carpets, and recycled plastic. His recent works feature unsettling forms: 700 rubber tongues waggling, dismembered spray-painted mannequins, deflated sex dolls in Perspex boxes, and analog computers pierced by pink lasers. He’s fascinated by threshold-crossing between real and imagined worlds, studying altered states and the politics of spaces where we lose ourselves in crowds. His practice seeks raw materiality that mirrors our underground escapes from capitalist ideology.
