Blues Boy

Getting very excited to play @thekey_stl as part of the Blues Forward Show THIS SUNDAY from 3-6 PM. I’m gonna do a few tunes (sneak peak here) and am honored to be playing with some of the outstanding musicians who ignited my love of this St. Louis music. It is a fantastic event put on by fantastic people and will be full to the brim with great talent and sounds. And… it’s FREE. If you’ve never seen me play blues before or always wanted to check out a local blues show, this afternoon will be a great introduction. Inspired by a short conversation with Bill Callahan, songwriter and vocalist Robin Harvey founded Space Quaker, an evolving indie rock band that plays mostly originals inspired by Callahan, Deerhunter, Patti Smith, Neil Young, and Quaker practices. After three years of playing around St. Louis venues, parks, and fish frys, they released their debut album, “First Day,” in August 2026. @spacequaker songs explore sudden revelations, muddling through uncertainty, and the hope that one can see clearly again.

@free4allstl goes down on Saturday, November 7 at various venues throughout the @grandcenterartsdistrict from noon to midnight. This cool, walkable concert crawl is a FREE, all-ages event brought to you with support from @kranzbergarts 🎶

It was 70% humidity wandering around south St. Louis with @spacequaker, all of us sharing a deep affection for a good view of sunset sky.

Thanks @matt.daisy for getting solid proof of my silliness + sky devotion. It was worth it!

Space Quaker’s release show for their new album is at the iconic @offbroadwaystl on August 7th and I’ll be there reading with other poets between sets! I won’t be mad if someone lays on the ground to take a photo✌️ by @andylewis7

Friday May 29!! Big show rolling through!

True Green’s name comes from medieval nun Hildegard of Bingen’s idea of viriditas, and also a lawn care company. Hail Disaster, the second album from Minneapolis-based band, is a darker, warmer follow up to their 2024 lofi debut My Lost Decade, exploring tragedies real and imagined, ranging from family cruelty (“Italian Lightning”), to the dark side of fandom (“Beatlemania”), doomed love (“Hamlet + Juliet”), and the death of Hornsby’s uncle from AIDS (“Terry’s Parrot”). Dan Hornsby, the principal songwriter of True Green, is also a novelist (his book Via Negativa is being adapted into a film starring Young Mazino) and True Green songs put his storytelling skills on full display.

Matt Daisy (STL) is a twister of strange ballads and twangy melodic phrasing. Raised around bluegrass, they write songs with an earthy blend of pop/soul energy and experimental influence. Two parts pouring of the heart, and one part comedic relief, Matt hopes to be relatable and raw in their musings (both dark and light), and to spread the contagion of creativity through their abundant love of sound and heavy lyrical imagery.

Huck (local schoolboy soft rock comprised of Jack Killeen, Cullen Drissell, Chris Endicott, and Andy Lewis) self-describes as “sweet, literary rock/pop from four school band friends” with songs written by Jack Killeen.
