I spoke with Angela Stubbs @angdee1975 about equanimity, Quiet Strength, and the difference between becoming detached from life versus learning how to stay grounded and open-hearted within it. Still a little awestruck that I got to write this piece.
Listening to the one and only @janefonda speak with Climate One’s Greg Dalton at @spirit_rock ‘s EcoDharma conference was incredibly grounding in a moment when the world feels anything but.

Jane has spent her life showing us what it looks like to stand in conviction rather than react from fear, whether through climate activism, spiritual practice, or her lifelong defense of free speech. I’ve long admired her energy and presence. A couple years ago, I was lucky enough to be in the same audience as Jane at the @hollywoodbowl during a @maggierogers concert, and that impression stayed with me. Writing about someone who has consistently put their body, voice, and reputation on the line for the First Amendment and the planet felt like both an honor and a responsibility.

I’m especially inspired by her recent revival of the Committee for the First Amendment, reminding us that free expression isn’t a given — it’s something we have to actively protect.

Those middle-of-the-night wake-ups can feel isolating. I’ve been there — and I know how quickly they can turn into self-blame.

I wrote this piece for Mindful because sleep disruption isn’t just about hormones or habits — it’s about how we care for ourselves when rest doesn’t come easily. This article is shaped by voices and work I deeply respect, including @jessicashepherdmd , @wakefully.io and author @shawnamrobins , who each approach sleep with compassion, science, and humanity.
