JUSTIFICATION 🫡 :

3. Squat surélevé avec haltère sur l’épaule

J’aime bien cet exercice !

BUILD THE BRAKES. NOT JUST THE ENGINE. 🫪

Everyone wants to be faster, jump higher and become more explosive.

But there’s one quality that athletes often overlook: the ability to decelerate.

Because speed is useless if you can’t control it.

Your ability to stop, absorb force and change direction determines how effectively you can use your athleticism on the court.

Here’s why you should train it:

1. DECELERATION

Learn to reduce your speed efficiently instead of letting your momentum control your body.

2. FORCE ABSORPTION

Train your muscles and tendons to tolerate and manage high forces during landing, stopping and changing direction.

3. ECCENTRIC STRENGTH

Develop the ability to resist movement under load. This helps you control your body when braking from high speeds.

4. REACTIVE CONTROL

Progress toward faster, more demanding deceleration tasks where you have to absorb force and immediately produce another movement.

5. CHANGE OF DIRECTION

A great change of direction isn’t just about pushing harder into the ground. It’s also about controlling your momentum, positioning your body and applying force in the right direction.

6. PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD

Don’t jump straight into maximal-speed drills or high-impact landings. Start with controlled movements, then progressively increase speed, intensity and complexity.

7. SPECIFICITY

If you play basketball, your training should eventually reflect the demands of basketball: short accelerations, hard stops, defensive slides, cuts and reactive movements.

The goal isn’t to spend your entire training session braking.

It’s to build an athlete who can accelerate hard, decelerate efficiently and redirect force when it matters.

Because being explosive isn’t just about how much force you can produce.

It’s also about how well you control it.

Build the engine. Build the brakes. Build a complete athlete.
