Everything shipshape before I fly to London today for my annual five week trip home. If you live in London and need a consult ping me a DM. I’ll be at Decorex on Monday so let me know if you will be there and would like to connect. taken in Sydney, Australia by @angelabuntcreative

I have an entire wall of these narrow cupboards along the kitchen bench. Rather than retain them closed with the horrid pale green milk glass sliding doors I keep them open for ease of daily use and to enjoy the display. What’s your favourite item on the shelves? by @angelabuntcreative

I am a sucker for vintage kanthas and have a supply of them which I use on the bed, soda, chairs, dining table and also outdoors to sit on. I rotate them regularly when I fancy a change of colour and styling. Here are two of my favourites on the back of the sofa and on the table. I usually buy them from @clothshoplondon as they have by far the best ones. I shall be in London in less than four weeks and buying another kantha is definitely top of my priorities! by @angelabuntcreative

Swipe right to see the flowers I bought this morning from the local market. Four bunches for AUS$60 (about £32)! The blossom I bought two weeks ago has died and dropped off but the green leaf shoots are delightful. BTW it is going to be a scorcher today (30c), just one random hot day and then the temps revert to seasonal ones thankfully. I’m running @macleayconcepts today so if you are in Potts Point do pop in. by @angelabuntcreative

Golly I miss my London sitting room. I still own the apartment but I sold most of the furniture (I left a few pieces for tenants) and a lot of the decorative items before I moved to Sydney. In hindsight I wish I had kept a lot of the decorative items but what a nightmare it would have been having to pack them every time I moved here in Sydney - five times in five years!! by @angelabuntcreative

For the love of old kanthas ………. even if they are showing signs of age. 🥰 This one on the table is a favourite of mine. This is the reverse; the other side is even more beautiful. I have two old kanthas on the sofa (the one you can see on the back of the sofa was last year’s purchase in London) and two on the bed. When I’m back home in London in October for a month I’ll buy another kantha or maybe two 😛. I’m only interested in the old ones as the colours are more muted and the stitching more smaller. I usually buy them from my favourite store @clothshoplondon Are you a fan of old kanthas? by @angelabuntcreative

The lift in our building shut down on Monday for (at least) two months while they replace it. Only the emergency stairs to use and I’m on the 6th floor 🙄. Swipe right for some Friday vignettes. Which is your favourite? In the second image are the two Royal Worcester egg coddlers I found on Facebook Marketplace (@4theloveofthrifting). Can’t wait to start using them. I would be interested to know what is your go-to recipe for coddled eggs. by @angelabuntcreative

It is hard to believe that this stair runner in my London home is 12 years’ old (it was fitted in 2014). It’s my pride and joy as I designed it from very old, handmade Peruvian frazadas which are thick blankets traditionally made from a blend of sheep and alpaca wool and I was nervous that it wouldn’t have durability for such a high traffic area. However it has stood the test of time and to this day shows no sign of wear & tear despite having tenants in my home since I moved to Sydney in late 2019. I’m reliably informed that it is in immaculate condition and my tenants love and respect it!

As background, in 2014 I bought three vintage handwoven Peruvian frazadas at Decorex. As soon as I saw them I had the vision of a stunning stair runner for my home. I found the most wonderful chap (aged 76) to turn my vision into a reality. He cut and sewed each frazada into strips the same width. I then created a design and each piece was fitted (each time the pattern changes is a separate piece of frazada). It was a labour of love for my fitter who admitted it was the most rewarding job he had ever done!

There is nothing quite like a statement runner to enhance a staircase and create a wow factor to entice people over the threshold. I highly recommend one if you have a staircase in the entrance hall or even if you only have a corridor as they work just as well on the floor. If cost is an issue I recommend to take it up the first flight of stairs and then continue with wall to wall plain carpet (I’ve used sisal in the rest of the apartment).

My entrance hall is what I call “dead space” as the apartment starts at the top of the stairs so I had to create something to “lure” visitors over the threshold. On the wooden floorboards I laid a piece of very thick, honey coloured coir matting and then styled the space with artwork, a mirror and vintage items. Swipe right for my images.

I’ve used statement runners for many of my clients to add interest to their entrance halls but I’ve never created one from frazadas or even kilims. Would you be brave enough to have this runner on your stairs? by @angelabuntcreative
