@giuliamusical , written by and starring @jennifernettles , is truly one of the most incredible theatre productions I've ever seen.

It's powerful and heartbreaking, yet uplifting and inspiring, and also funny in all the right places.

Everything was so brilliant: the cast, songs costumes, choreography, and the scenery was so cleverly used.

It's based on a real-life woman who lived in 17th century Italy (Giulia Tofana), and the musical is a true feminist story with Giulia being the fierce protector of the women around her. The accusations fired at Giulia's apothecary and medical skills felt very relevant to today, given the rise in anti-science rhetoric in today's media and politics. And like so many instances today, Giulia was vilified to deflect from the wrong doings of those in power.
It even had an underlying storyline of a drought, which again feels very relevant to the recent lack of substantial rainfall here in the UK.

I've long been a fan of Jennifer Nettles' music, so being able to see this was a dream. And Jennifer, thank you for being so generous with your time after the show!

Some caterpillars and moths this week. 🐛
I think the first is a cinnabar moth caterpillar, munching on a plant. I think the next are old lady moths, seen inside Robin Hood Cave. A yellow and black striped caterpillar on a plant. by @angharadj4

I had a wonderful weekend visiting @emilyknitsto
We toured the S.S. Keewatin, at the Great Lakes Museum in Kingston.
The S.S. Keewatin is an Edwardian passenger steamship, once owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Built in 1907, it preceeded the Titanic by a few years, and experienced considerably greater longevity, given that it ceased operation in the 1960s. The ship was built in Scotland and sailed to Quebec. Once there, it amazingly had to be split in half as the Welland Canal (linking Lake Ontario to Lake Eerie) could not cope with a ship of its size. The need for the ship to be split had been built into the ship's design. It was put back together in Buffalo, and in 1908, it began to carry passengers between ports in Lake Huron and Lake Superior. A selfie of two people inside a boat. One had long brown hair and red glasses. The other has medium-length brown hair and a blue denim jacket. taken in Great Lakes Museum by @angharadj4

Lots and lots of caterpillars here at Creswell Crags, wriggling over blades of grass, and dangling on silken threads from trees.
