Absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been awarded a Creative Practice grant from the Arts Council of Wales. I’ve been making electronic pop music for a decade and spent the early years performing as a solo artist but more recently I’ve been performing with the fantastic cellist Tabitha Selley. This experience, alongside performing with the incredible @quartetdraig earlier this year, has influenced not only how I present my music, but also the kind of music I'd like to create. I’ve felt for a while that I'd like to start composing experimental music for a string quartet alongside some electronic and more ambient vocal sounds, all of which will be inspired by my experience of watching my deaf daughter’s journey with communication and sound develop and grow. The aim would be to develop the skills necessary to create and present such music and ultimately, create new opportunities for myself. It will be quite different from what I’ve created to date but I’m really excited to get cracking! 🧡

Eithriadol o falch a diolchgar o fod wedi derbyn grant Ymarfer Creadigol gan @celfcymruarts. Fi di bod yn cyfansoddi a perfformio cerddoriaeth pop electroneg ers degawd. Treulies i’r blynyddoedd cynnar yn cyflwyno fy ngherddoriaeth fel artist unigol ond yn ddiweddar fi di bod yn perfformio gyda’r sielydd anhygoel Tabitha Selley. Mae’r profiad yma, ynghyd â’r cyfle i berfformio gyda’r phedwarawd llinynnol Quartet Draig yn Nulyn yn gynharach eleni, wedi dylanwadi nid yn unig ar sut yr ydw i’n cyflwyno fy ngherddoriaeth, ond hefyd ar ba gerddoriaeth yr hoffwn i greu. Hoffwn felly ddechrau cyfansoddi cerddoriaeth mwy arbrofol a fyddai'n cynnwys pedwarawd llinynnol ynghyd â synau electronig a lleisiol er mwyn adlewyrchu fy mhrofiad o wylio siwrnai fy merch fyddar gyda chyfathrebu a sain. Nod y prosiect yma fyddai i ddatblygu’r sgiliau a fyddai angen arnaf er mwyn gallu creu a chyflwyno cerddoriaeth o’r fath ac yn y pendraw, creu cyfleoedd newydd i fy hunan. Fydd e’n eithe gwahanol i be fi di creu hyd hyn ond fi wir yn edrych mlân i gal dechre! 🧡

Hi there! I thought I’d do a post to introduce myself as I’ve had a lot of new followers recently who may not know much about me. So my name is Ani Glass and I’m an electronic pop producer and performer from Cardiff in Wales. I started my Ani Glass project back in 2016 (10 years ago?!!) but that’s not where my music journey began…

When I started uni in Liverpool back in 2004 👵🏼 I joined a brilliant R&B pop band called Genie Queen (see photo 1 - I’m the goth on the far left). It was the best introduction into the industry, I absolutely loved it and made some friends for life during that time (you know who you are ❤️). We were based at the Motor Museum studios (owned by Andy McCluskey of @omdhq) where we recorded, hung out and saw some amazing artists and producers do their magic like @mikecrossey (hi Mike!) and the Arctic Monkeys.

Later I joined what was my absolute favourite band ever - the brilliant The Pipettes (see photo 2 with sibling taken by @6bbbbbbbbb6bbb ❤️). Whilst it remains the wildest rollercoaster that I’ve ever been on (from which I’m still recovering 😂) I got to experience so many amazing things; most notably the opportunity to work with the incredible Martin Rushent who produced our (severely underrated!) second album.

When I moved home I started a band with my wonderful school friends. We were called The Lovely Wars (see photo 3 by @daniellazenby) and we had a lot of fun playing local shows, recording our music and just hanging out. Wildly enough, that was the first time that I had ever sung in Welsh outside of school!

So that’s that! Let me know if you have any questions! Diolch i chi ❤️ by @ani_glass

ANI GLASS -

Ani Glass is the persona of Cardiff-based electronic pop musician, producer and artist, Ani Saunders. Glass sings in her native languages Welsh and Cornish and in March 2020 released her self-produced debut album Mirores which was awarded Welsh Language Album of the Year at the National Eisteddfod and shortlisted for the Welsh Music Prize. In September 2020, Ani released the Ynys Araul remix EP which included a version by synth pop giants Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Her much-anticipated follow-up album Phantasmagoria was released in September 2025 to glowing reviews and her new D/deaf-friendly performances gaining praise for their accessibility. Glass is also known for her work with The Pipettes, joining to record the Martin Rushent-produced Earth Vs. The Pipettes album

OSGLED -

Drawing from a diverse palette of experimental sounds, Osgled (Welsh for amplitude) blends ethereal, atmospheric textures with haunting, melancholic synths, layered beneath dreamy and expressive vocals. The result is an immersive soundscape that feels both otherworldly and intensely emotional, inviting listeners into a space of introspection, atmosphere, and feeling.

Edrych ymlaen i hon!! 🌟 taken in Caffi Lolfá by @ani_glass

@ani_glass Phantasmagoria ✦

Ani Glass creates distinctive electronic pop rooted in her Welsh and Cornish heritage, blending both languages with bold, experimental production.

Her latest album, Phantasmagoria, sees her pushing that sound further, accompanied by innovative D/deaf-friendly performances that have brought a new dimension to her live work.

Welsh Music Prize 2026 Shortlist ~ Rhestr Fer Y Wobr Gerddoriaeth Gymreig 2026 ✧

Mae Ani Glass yn creu pop electroneg unigryw sy’n dwyn dylanwad gan ei gwreiddiau Cernyweg a Chymraeg.

Mae ei hail albwm, Phantasmagoria, yn gwthio’i sain nodweddiadol ymhellach, gan wyro fwyfwy tuag at ddulliau cynhyrchu arbrofol, tra bod ei pherfformiadau byw - sy’n gyfeillgar i bobl F/fyddar - yn ychwanegu haen arall i’w gwaith.
