They say the deepest loves leave the deepest absences, which explains why our whole world stopped last week. There’s an immeasurable pug shaped void in our hearts & home after we said goodbye to our beloved Stella after 16 incredible years by our side. My very best friend, my velvet eared sidekick, my puggy girl 🫶🏼

I’ve tried to put into words how wholeheartedly I love her, and how profound her impact was on our lives. It’s impossible. Stella taught me unconditional love and how to be present. There’s a rare kind of magic about the dog you get in your 20s. She walked beside me, loving me through every season of those formative decades. Through all of life’s reinventions, she helped me love myself too.

I was just a college kid when she chose me. Now, sitting here as an adult with a child of my own, I feel beyond lucky to have had her by my side. She was so woven into our every day. I still hear her tiny tap tap tap toes approaching, her perfect pug snore humming between us at night. How will I sleep without that warm little potato tucked against me? She always wanted to be close. I loved that about her.

Stella was my 2009 Mac photo booth pug. A fall in love & move across the country pug. Flower girl at our wedding pug. First big girl job office pug. On set with dad pug. Wagon on the weekend pug. Palm Springs vacation pug. Shared the spotlight to be Oona’s big sister pug. The always by our side through it all pug. 💛

We love you endlessly, Stella. The only thing softening this heartbreak is imagining you in the sunniest spot, shining down on us with love, just as you so beautifully did while you were here. Thank you for being you. We’ll miss you forever and ever. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 by @anicanicole
