What if we told a story about our history that made us look at ourselves honestly;not just at what was done to us, but at what we did to each other? Forgive Thy Fathers is a Nigerian short film that brings together three mediums <film, stage, and radio >to explore the weight of inherited pain and the possibility of collective reckoning. When a weary young man in the present encounters a 19th-century sailor’s monologue about slavery and survival, centuries collapse into a single moment of confrontation. We selected this film because it asks the question Africa needs to keep asking: what do we owe each other across generations? Written, directed and produced by @anieeessien & @bluehousepictures Vol. 5 · Block One: “Dear,” · November 14th · Baraza Media Lab · Tickets in bio #minimoviemarathon #shortfilms #africancinema #shortfilmfestival by @anieeessien

Coming to Mini Movie Marathon Vol. 5: FORGIVE THY FATHERS 🎬 Spanning two timelines, Forgive Thy Fathers follows a weary young man in the present whose encounter with a 19th-century sailor’s story forces him to confront questions of history, inherited trauma and forgiveness. Ekere, the 10-minute Nigerian short moves between film, stage and radio to explore the ways the past continues to shape us — and what it might take to break the cycle.
