"wànashkobàsh is a wetland, soft ground flooding with water; a situation of overwhelming entanglement; and something squishy, cushy, and springy."

This summer, Cai delved into the enchanting realm of wetlands, uncovering their essential role in our ecosystem. Their journey inspired this year's Bentwood Box, decorated with stunning wetland plants and featuring a pouch of sagebrush harvested from Nlaka’pamux and Syilx territory. It symbolizes the delicate balance and intricate beauty of these vital ecosystems.

By participating in the 2024 Bentwood Box Charity, you can help young, passionate Indigenous Youth like Cai make a real difference in our world. Lil bentwood box for Lattimer Gallery's annual charity auction! I wrapped this box with some wetlands plants I had the pleasure of working with over the summer.

The auction is up on Lattimer Gallery's website and runs until December 7th. All proceeds from these boxes are donated to Urban Native Youth Association (@unyayouth).

happy TDOV, friends 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

I'm so grateful to have found a wonderful community with friends and family who love me, and I'm grateful to be living as my true self every day. growing up, I spent a lot of time thinking I wouldn't live to see the following year. I never planned to make it thru my teens, let alone into my 20s, but here I am at 23! it's been just over a year since I had top surgery, and 5 yrs since I started on hrt. I'm still in awe of the plasticity of my body and how it grows and changes to fit me. I'm still figuring out who I am but I've grown to appreciate my ambiguous relationship with gender.
