It’s my 9 Year Veganniversary🥳 I’ve been vegetarian since I was 14 years old and then turned vegan 9 years ago. From a teenager in India to an adult in the UK, my journey from vegetarianism to veganism was a fairly easy transition for me because my WHY was solid. But everyone has their own unique journey, and life as a vegan can come with challenges, which may vary from person to person. Here are 5 lessons I’ve learned over the past 9 years and I carry them with me, always👇🏽

• Remember your Why (Values) ✊🏽 – My WHY has always been related to animal rights. From animal welfare to climate action to health and nutrition, everyone has their own unique WHY that it linked to their personal values. Remember your WHY always, especially on tough days, and that passion will carry you through:)

• Do your Research (Evidence) 📚 – Research and hard facts are your best friends to make informed lifestyle choices, and to stand your ground against skeptics;)

• Experiment and have Fun (Joy)🌞 – From experimenting with creative vegan recipes to trying new vegan restaurants, enjoy the process and have fun with it!

• Find your Balance (Resilience) ⚖️ – Finding a meaningful balance is the key to sustaining a vegan lifestyle in the long run. Balance between creative cooking experiments & affordable nutrition, between daily meals & travel flexibility, between quiet self practice & vocal public activism, between passion & practicality.

• Progress over Perfection (Compassion) 🫶🏽 – Tune out the noise about being the perfect, aesthetic vegan. Just show up, every single day. Practice compassion not just for the planet, but also for yourself and for those around you who trying to do their part too:)

For anyone who is on a vegan journey, remember this is a conscious and compassionate choice that you make every day. Own it. Enjoy it. Celebrate it✨ Thank you for making the world a kinder place:)

Like all food, the environmental impact of blueberries depends on how they are grown, packaged and transported. Buying seasonal berries where possible, shopping in small local markets, supporting local farmers. choosing recyclable packaging and freezing any extras are easy little ways to enjoy blueberries in an earth friendly way🌿

A for Avocado🥑 First up in the A-Z list of my favourite vegan ingredients is the luxurious Avocado! This delicious ingredient (from the fruit family) has numerous health benefits and brings a fresh creaminess to both savoury and sweet vegan dishes! From guacamole to salads to vegan chocolate mousse, the avocado is a versatile ingredient🤤 However, due to the negative effects of unsustainable mass production standards driven by rising global consumption demands, avocados have a higher carbon footprint than other plant-based ingredients. That said, it still a better option for animals and the environment as compared to meat and dairy alternatives. According to @vivacharity, “The average carbon footprint of one avocado is around 0.19 kgs of CO2 equivalents. The same amount of beef produces 4 kgs, lamb 3.4 kgs, cheese 3.15 kgs and pork 1 kgs.” Bottomline? Enjoy avocados responsibly and in moderation, and practice conscious consumption by purchasing from sustainable and ethical sources🥑🌍 Craving avocados now? This famous quote envisions a peaceful coexistence between humans and animals✨This photo was taken at the Wallis Annenberg PetSpace in Los Angeles, which is a unique community space featuring an interactive place for pet adoptions, an education center, and a leadership institute. I was inspired by the incredible work being done by this organisation and amazed with the impressive facilities at the @annenbergpetspace. The animals that were up for adoption (cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, snakes) were treated were an enormous amount of love, care and respect, and the space is designed beautifully, in a way that truly captures the essence of the Annenberg PetSpace’s mission: To promote and strengthen the human-animal bond. For anyone living in and/or travelling to LA, I highly recommend a visit to the Annenberg PetSpace in Playa Vista:)

As the weather gets warmer, I find myself constantly craving the divine Vegan Milkshakes from CREAMO in Los Angeles🤤 With a range of delectable vegan ice creams, milk shakes and donuts, @creamoicecream by @donutfriend is by far my favourite vegan dessert spot in LA.
