✍️ My latest for the SCMP is one of the most important pieces I’ve written. Anita Miles pioneered women’s cricket in Hong Kong 🇭🇰. Now, her daughter Natasha helps run the Anita Miles Foundation, which provides scholarships for local women to play in the UK

Thank you to the Miles family, Betty and Chan Sau Ha for their time. And to CHK who’ve been doing great work in growing and promoting women’s cricket 🙏

🗞️🚨 Thank you @scmpnews and @jaydansinghanicomms for a wonderful article and sharing the work the foundation is doing.

We are honored to be featured and are excited at what the future holds for us and the opportunities we can help provide within Hong Kong Cricket and the wider associate sphere.

Year 2.

This year @betty_chan_cricket and @charlottec.s.h are headed to the UK as our scholars to play for @aldershotcricketclub and @altoncricketclub .

We are so proud of these two girls who have been part of the fabric of Women's Cricket since it's inception in Hong Kong. Both having toured with the @hkcricket national sides first ever international tour in 2006 to Pakistan.

These two were part of the first group of young local girls that Anita took under her wing and supported their growth throughout their careers and would be so happy and proud that they are getting an opportunity to develop their cricket in the UK and hopefully meet some lifelong friends through cricket!

A super first week for @heilui_heiley and Emma who started their club training and played their first matches with their respective clubs @cove.cc and @stcrosscc

The teams at Cove and St Cross have been so welcoming getting the girls settled in, so comfortably that they've both taken their first wickets!

Anita's greatest passion was ensuring that all players were always able to access training and matches whether it be for her club or national representation with Cricket Hong Kong, She was also passionate about making sure they were able to continue their development as cricketers and empower them as young women. Since her passing in 2016, Rodney and their daughter Natasha, herself a professional and international cricketer have been deeply passionate about carrying on her legacy in the way that her vision, passion and values would be embodied. And so the Anita Miles Foundation was born...

Anita's love of the game quickly snowballed into a vision and a lifelong passion of growing the grass roots game amongst the Hong Kong community, attracting local players from all backgrounds and setting it on a path to what is now, the thriving Hong Kong Women's League. Anita would frequently enroll herself on coaching courses in Hong Kong and around the world and take what she learnt back into local Chinese schools and introduce the game to communities that had never even heard of cricket

Anita Wu Mui Chu was born in Hong Kong and lived her life there, meeting her husband Rodney Miles. Rodney was heavily involved in the Hong Kong cricket community as a player, leader and strong advocate of growing the sport throughout the community. Anita saw an opportunity for growing female participation, organizing the first women's match at the Hong Kong Cricket Club as part of their 150th celebration in 2001.
