Great seeing the centre in action yesterday and especially fun hosting my Woodyard themed murder mystery in the evening to help raise funds. Huge thanks to the magnificent Kayleigh and her team, the brilliant actors and everyone who came along. by @ann.cleeves

I spent yesterday at The Woodyard, Barnstaple. Although I did none of the work to create this warm and welcoming space, it was inspired by the community hub in the Matthew Venn books. One of my proudest achievements. Alan’s here most weeks for some good company, home cooked food and a tune or two on the piano. by @ann.cleeves

Laura unleashed her GCSE Drama for a special murder mystery evening in Barnstaple with Vera, Shetland, and Two Rivers author Ann Cleeves!

Ann was in North Devon to see how well The Woodyard CIC is doing to support the community in North Devon.

Laura also spoke to Ann about her work, and her love for North Devon - which you’ll be able to hear on The Voice, and on the Listen Again page soon ➡️ https://www.thevoicefm.co.uk/listen-again/listen-again1/ by @ann.cleeves

Chatsworth House was a fabulous background to a day celebrating books and reading last weekend. The Queen’s Reading Room was magnificent in its organisation and its welcome. CEO Vicki Perrin interviewed me in the Garden tent - 500 people with a love of crime fiction! Later in the day I was in the Reading Room tent, with the survivors of domestic abuse, who shared their experience of reading as an escape. Thanks to Ian of Reading for Wellbeing for telling his story, and to Her Majesty for her warmth in meeting the group participants.
