🍂 Autumn is my most favourite season! 🍁

I love a cold but sunny day, and all of the colourful leaves on the trees… and the start of the build-up to Christmas!!

I couldn’t resist doing a seasonal book stack with all the lovely autumnal colours!

Have you read any of these or have any on your tbr?

BOOK REVIEW 📕
The Dying Light by Ann Cleeves

This is Ann Cleeves’s 40th book & I have read & loved them all! My favourites will always be the Shetland series and the Vera Stanhope series, but this new series is wonderful too.

The Dying Light is book four in The Two Rivers series set in North Devon, England and featuring Detective Matthew Venn.

In this story, he investigates the death of a young woman whose body is found in the swimming pool of a luxurious holiday home. The girl’s best friend, a politician’s daughter, has also gone missing.

It’s an atmospheric setting and there are plenty of intriguing suspects to keep you guessing….

I’m looking forward to hearing Ann Cleeves discuss this and other books at the Toronto International Festival of Authors on Monday.

Fancy a thrill this weekend?

Look who’s here for your long weekend entertainment.

Lee Child, David McCloskey, Matthew Reilly, Ann Cleeves and Ian Rankin all reporting for duty 🫡

And they’re not alone on the crime/thrillers table either as there are plenty of authors to choose from.

Wow it’s been a minute! I swear I meant to get better at posting on here, but having a 4 month old and a 5 year old is not for the faint hearted - but I’m still reading!

A massive thank you to the team at @bookbreakuk for sending over these titles, and a tote bag (who doesn’t love a tote bag?!) this week. Both of these are right up my street, and I’m excited to read a new instalment of Ann Cleeves character Matthew Venn.

QOTD: What are you guys reading at the moment? Any recent recommendations?

In One Brief Moment All Eternity by Elif Shafak

The new novel from the Booker-shortlisted, internationally bestselling author

During a time of great turmoil, Gustave Flaubert created literature’s most scandalous heroine: Madame Bovary. He then poisoned her with arsenic. But what if, 175 years later, Emma – and the women history overlooked – could seize the quill from his hands and tell a different story?

In One Brief Moment All Eternity is a luminous reinvention of an iconic male writer, told through the eyes of the women – real and fictional – who shaped him: a devoted nursemaid, an Egyptian dancer and a passionate, jealous lover who refuses to be forgotten. Through their voices, visionary author Elif Shafak creates both an intimate portrait of a great artist and an epic meditation on storytelling itself: who gets remembered, who gets erased, and how can literature endure through political upheaval, war and injustice? When the world feels broken, how do we find the hope to carry on?
