POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Our October speaker for #CMaltitude is president of @cardinalpeak and a @mounteverestofficial summiteer, Tonya Clement @beyondeverest ✈️

If you’ve ever wondered what might be possible if you said “yes” to the adventure, Tonya Clement is someone you’ll want to meet. Curious, energetic, and endlessly creative, Tonya has a wonderful way of making people feel welcome—and inspiring them to think a little bigger about what they can do.

As President of Cardinal Peak Technologies in Colorado, an accomplished speaker, and an Everest summiteer, Tonya brings a unique blend of business leadership, adventure, humor, and hard-earned perspective to everything she does. She was the 20th American woman to summit Everest and the fifth American woman to reach the summit via the formidable North Ridge.

But for Tonya, Everest is about much more than climbing a mountain. It taught her that everyone has their Everest—and that with the support of others, we can overcome challenges we may not have thought possible.

Tonya’s super power is helping people and teams reach their own peak performance. Whether leading a business team or inspiring an audience, she strives to help people feel more fully alive, embrace possibility, and enjoy the adventure along the way.

Throw on a fun costume and swing by @junkyardsocialclub next Friday, October 23rd from 8-10am to hear more about Tonya’s experience summiting Everest and her passion for helping other people reach their ‘peak’!

The race itself isn’t the challenge but the long process of getting there. The race is the gift you get rewarded with, staying healthy, motivated, aware of your body and stubborn enough to keep going. by @anna.bolik.96

Have you ever participated in a race and stopped for a moment to think about all the volunteers who make it possible?

The ones handing you water, keeping you fueled, cheering you on, and reminding you that you’ve GOT THIS when your legs are telling you otherwise. 😅🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💨

Last Sunday, @achillesboulder volunteered at the Boulderthon race from 7:30am–12:30pm, cheering runners on and getting creative with the perfect words of encouragement:

✨ “You’ve got this!”
🔥 “Kick-ass!”
🙌 “Looking great!”

Because sometimes, a few words from a stranger are exactly what you need to keep going.

It’s always a great experience to be part of the team behind it. Volunteering gives you a whole new appreciation for the organization, the people, and all the little things that make an event happen.

And yes… next time you race, remember to thank the volunteers! 💙👏 by @anna.bolik.96

We shared homemade bites and coffee with the mural artists getting ready to kick-off @kissfistmuralfest just outside and the inside space with a gallery full of art from @smileboulder 🎨

We welcomed SO MANY folks from our community to share their 30-second pitches, visit their pages or find them online:
🌊 Megan Mazzoni - @noboartdistrict
🌊 Dr. Hailee Patel, Au.D. - @comet.audiology
🌊 Kaitlin Lavinder / @kaitlinlavinderauthor - Book: The Chrysanthemums
🌊 Kate Fitzpatrick / @katefitzpatrickart - @kissfistmuralfest
🌊 Paige Doughty / @paigedoughty123 - @rainbowsockstv
🌊 Andy Blockno - Documentary: Not It
🌊 Danielle Hartig / @beswelle - @neuen.co + @afterneuen.co
🌊 Malva Freymuth Tarasewicz / Book: Benjamin Breaking Barriers

We kicked off the main event with an introduction from Malva, Benjamin’s mother, author of “Benjamin Breaking Barriers”, and a professional musician. She connected our theme to current developments happening within the autistic community today. She spoke briefly about the struggles and strengths that often define the autistic experience and Benjamin’s path to discovering his voice and then the floor was his!

Benjamin dove deeper into some of the history and habits associated with autism and shared anecdotes from his experience learning to cope with his behaviors and speak cohesively thanks to his mother’s consistency and intensive therapy. He emphasized that being different doesn’t mean less shared one of his impressive ‘splinter skills’ with a ukulele performance!

Thank you to our community, partners, sponsors, and our amazing organizers and volunteers for making events like these possible: @creativemorning @adobe @adclubco @boulderartsculture @cubrandstudios

Our September speaker for #cmCURRENT is Benjamin Tarasewicz, subject of the book: “Benjamin Breaking Barriers: Autism – A Journey of Hope” 🌊

Benjamin has been speaking about breaking barriers of autism since the tender age of 17, providing in-depth information, inspirational stories, and tips for reaching out to people with “differences.”
He is an award-winning public speaker (honored with the Temple Grandin Award), a musician, and an actor - known to moves his audiences to both laughter and tears.

Benjamin has given a Tedx talk (The Power of Kindness and Friendship), was recently a keynote speaker at both the British School of Berlin and the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s annual autism conference in Baltimore, and is the subject of his mother’s prize-winning book: “Benjamin Breaking Barriers: Autism – A Journey of Hope”.

His message is one of hope and perseverance, and he inspires people in all walks of life to meet their personal challenges head on. As the fabric of society stretches to include a rising number of autism diagnoses, his call for compassion and awareness is vital.

“Benjamin Breaking Barriers - A Journey of Hope” is a memoir by Benjamin’s mother and one of our regular volunteers, Malva. The book shares vignettes detailing creative ideas and resources for living with autism - ranging from early childhood through young adulthood and doubles as a valuable autism resource for parents and professionals.

Come meet Benjamin and hear his story next Friday, September 18th from 8-10am at a NEW LOCATION: Nobo Bus Stop Gallery @noboartdistrict - a vibrant, artist-led community in North Boulder that brings together artists, creative businesses, residents, and visitors through exhibitions, events, education, and public art.

Me on the trail today 🙃
How does it feel to go against the stream?
Today, I decided to run the trail the other way. Sometimes, going against the stream is exactly where we’re meant to be.
It’s interesting how sometimes we feel the pressure of following a group? Today, I was ready to change my perspective, to run the trail I‘d ran in the same direction so many times and experience it differently. It worked, it was fun, even though it felt a little bit like braking the unspoken rule. Obviously the chipmunk wasn’t agreeing with me 😂 taken in Batasso Link Trail by @anna.bolik.96

Nothing About Us Without Us- Accessibility at the DAM
This project brings together people with disabilities, museum staff, designers, and the community to listen, learn, and imagine more inclusive ways to experience art and culture.

At the heart of it all: nothing about us, without us.

I’m honored to be part of this journey as one of a few community curators for accessibility and excited for what we’re creating together. I‘ll keep you posted on the progress to be completed in 2027!

THANK YOU for joining us last Friday for our 1ST BIRTHDAY + August #creativemornings event #cmNAKHLAH with Leah Brenner Clack @tinytrunx and artist Lio-Bravo Bumbakini @liobumba at @junkyardsocialclub 🎂

We celebrated an entire year of inspiring events in Boulder with:
🎉 Birthday cake and sweets from @sweetsistersbakeshopllc
🎉 Coffee from our first coffee sponsor @thecoffeeride
🎉 Year In Review art by our social media manager - Danielle Hartig @neuen.co
🎉 @whimsigopuzzles activity with illustrations by our community builder - Angelika Piwowarczyk @flora.illustration

We also welcomed a few businesses to set-up shop, chat with our attendees, and take part in our 30-second pitches:
⚡️ Ad Club CO @adclubco [Our NO. 1 sponsor!]
⚡️ Flipside Theatre @flipsidetheatre @superiorimprovco
⚡️ Street Wise Arts @streetwisearts
⚡️ Check Your Blindspots @check_your_blindspots

Our hosts Anna @anna.bolik.96 and Kai @kfranks4404 kicked off the main event with a recap video from our videographer Kevin Steele @kevsteele and a harp performance by Serena Hunnicutt @hunniharp to set the mood.

Leah took the stage and metaphorically connected the palm tree to her journey of founding Street Wise from a side hustle playing matchmaker between artists and businesses. She pushed through uncertainty and leaned into her community roots to plant the seeds of Boulder’s first street art exhibition, grow that momentum into a mural arts festival, and bloom Street Wise into a full-blown non-profit in 2020 - completing 180 murals to date 🌴

Lio’s connection to palms was an unexpected sensory experience. His family from the Congo reminded him that every part of the palm participates in life. He took us through a meditation that connected the physical resilience of the palm to the livelihood of his ancestors and then ended the morning by sharing funny Yoruba folklore about the dark side of wishing to be as useful as a palm 🌴

Thank you to our community, partners, sponsors, and our amazing organizers and volunteers for making events like these possible: @creativemorning @adobe @adclubco @boulderartsculture @cubrandstudios

Celebrating 🎉 @cm_boulder
Did you know , CreativeMornings is the biggest FREE in-person gathering in the world? +250 chapters globally and thousands of people connect!
I’d discovered @creativemorning in Cluj-Napoca, in Romania before moving to Boulder in October 2023. I‘ve fallen in love with it.
Who of you thinks:“I’m not an artist, I’m not creative.“ but the truth is we all are! We just don’t realize that making a good dinner from leftovers, or fixing something without the exact required tools, is BEING creative. Everyone is creative, exactly.
Boulder didn’t have a chapter. I went to the @cm_denver denver instead, where I found more inspiration and made friends. I’ve fallen in love with Boulder too (who can’t really?!) and I felt that the city was made for this. I set all my doubts aside „Anna, give a damn“ and just do it! So here I was on stage pitching at @cm_denver I want to start a CreativeMornings chapter in Boulder. Who wants to be on my team?“ @hilarybrown1 , then others followed, @kevsteele @lvrx1234 @krista.villatoro @beswelle and many more.
Dang, first step accomplished. Now the venue, where to start? I wanted a fun place where people feel safe, that is accessible and inclusive, and that wants to collaborate. Yes! The @junkyardsocialclub opened its doors to us. More venues followed. Then the coffee, breakfast, the speakers, musicians, artistic interactions. It all worked out. CreativeMornings is about the people, human connections, being seen, having the courage to say “here’s what I’m working on“. It’s about inspiring and being inspired.
That’s the community I hope we keep building. For the entrepreneur, the teacher, the gardener, the dreamer, the person with 17 unfinished projects, and the person who hasn’t started any yet. Everyone belongs. Young, old, with or without disability.
It takes a lot of my time, many other volunteers time but there’s something so rewarding about it, beyond money, revenue that we all continue and that spreads further around the world.
So here’s to year two: more ideas, more unexpected friendships, more brave first steps, and,
Thank you for believing in this.
