The Giro is over.

Bittersweet, I could write tones of words about our riders here. Hats off, such an honor to work for and with such special human beings.

The strongest feeling I have today is to have found that flow with the staff where magic happens. Where you are asked and ask people to make an extra effort in an already very exhausted context, and the answer is either yes I can, or no, I can’t make it, but it is honest. It is just true. Both are difficult answers when you’ve been working hard and really want to give your best.

Wow, I could live forever in an environment like this; Everyone giving their blood for a common goal and feeling safe enough to put limits. And caring for each other. Really caring. Just humans doing their best in the shadow and genuinely working together.

I’ve had this feeling very few times in my career. In fact, first and last time was with @michel8sanchez (hand by hand with my @davidporcel4 ). And that was also my first and last time crying in front of people when that was over (I have to say in my favor that we all did 🥴).
My biggest frustration at that moment was to not be able to live that magic again with such an aligned staff. That story finished too early and all of us devastated just meant that we knew the potential we had together, but our opportunity was over and we wouldn’t be able to explore it further. That’s sport.

But now, some years later, this feeling is here again. Wow. Will do my best to retain this gold, so rare and difficult to find. Thanks @owenblandy_ @richardromeroa @mariacarmona_nutri @pasqualet1730 for creating such a collaborative environment. Thanks to Josep Colomer and rest of soigneurs to say yes, when I asked for that last moment change. I know I said few months ago that I wasn’t going to do that, but I did the day before yesterday. And for all the efforts I am not aware that you do and have been doing in the ground for years.

Thank you all for making me feel this magic again. I deeply admire every single person that was involved in this Giro.

@fotorunners.es y @sportmedia.es , gracias.

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to speak with The Athletic about something that, not so long ago, was barely discussed in professional cycling: periods and menstrual health.

Today, it is becoming part of the conversation around elite women's sport. And I think that's a very positive change.

A healthy menstrual cycle is one piece of a much bigger picture. It can provide valuable information about energy availability, health and adaptation, and it can help us identify when something isn't working as it should.

I'm very grateful to The Athletic for giving space to this conversation, and even more grateful to the athletes and colleagues who are helping make these conversations increasingly normal in our sport. There is still a lot to learn, but the direction is encouraging.

And perhaps the most important change is this: we're starting to understand that high performance and health don't have to be opposing goals.

One of the greatest privileges of working in sport is having a front-row seat to collective excellence.

We have the opportunity to watch talented people from different disciplines make each other better. Coaches, athletes, mechanics, soigneurs, directors, doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists, media, chefs... each bringing their own expertise, each contributing something that others can’t. We all know that no single contribution wins a race, but when all those small contributions align, something special happens.
Watching that process unfold is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

Congrats @efprocycling 🤍❤️!!! by @anna_carceller
