🌱🐝 Join us on Saturday, October 24, for a special community pollinator planting event at Lou Ann David Park (1088 Broadway) in Somerville, accompanying the public art installation Letters Rewoven!

Created using handmade paper embedded with native wildflower seeds, Letters Rewoven was designed to evolve with its environment, gradually breaking down over time to allow the seeds to take root.

In keeping with the spirit of the installation and as part of Somerville’s Pollinator Action Plan, we’re continuing this work by planting more native species to support local pollinators and help the garden grow and thrive! 🌼🦋

Artist Profiles: Anna Fubini

Anna is an experimental fiber and mixed media artist. She wants the viewer to be a little disturbed by her work to provoke curiosity. There’s some humor in there somewhere. It will take you places. by @anna_fubini_art

🍆 IMMACULATE CONCEPTION — THE CLOSING RECEPTION 🍆

Immaculate Conception came, saw, and conquered. 🍆

For the past few months, 18 artists have taken one of the world’s most suggestive fruits and pushed it through religion, history, culture, humor, identity, obsession, and just about everything in between.

The show has been a huge success—and before we put the eggplants away, we’re doing it one more time.

We hope this exhibition has filled your hearts, expanded your minds, stimulated your imaginations… and filled whatever else you needed filled with eggplants. 🍆

But all good things must eventually come to an end.

So come get one last serving.

🍆 One last look.
🍆 One last night.
🍆 One last chance to experience Immaculate Conception in all its glory.

📅 Closing Reception: Friday, October 2
🕗 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM
📍 Black Walls Gallery
71 Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA
🪪 21+ | Valid ID Required

Thank you to everyone who came through and showed love to the exhibition and its artists.

Come help us finish it off. 🍆

I think that last line is the right closer. After “filled whatever else you needed filled,” “one last serving,” and then “finish it off,” there’s basically no way to misunderstand what we’re doing—but technically we haven’t said anything dirty. 😂 taken in New Día by @anna_fubini_art

🚨BLACK WALLS GALLERY PRESENTS🚨
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

In medieval Europe, the eggplant was feared.
Known as the “Mad Apple,” some believed it could drive you insane. Once surrounded by superstition and cultural prejudice, it eventually became one of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated foods.

It has also been used throughout history in traditional medicine and folklore, where it was believed to aid everything from fertility and childbirth to healing-a single fruit carrying countless meanings across different cultures.

For our 2nd Anniversary Exhibition, every participating artist was given the same challenge:
Create a work centered around the eggplant.
What followed wasn’t simply a collection of paintings-it became an exploration of symbolism, history, culture, religion, humor, identity, and obsession.

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 23 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Black Walls Gallery
71 Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA
