🍆 IMMACULATE CONCEPTION — THE CLOSING RECEPTION 🍆

Immaculate Conception came, saw, and conquered. 🍆

For the past few months, 18 artists have taken one of the world’s most suggestive fruits and pushed it through religion, history, culture, humor, identity, obsession, and just about everything in between.

The show has been a huge success—and before we put the eggplants away, we’re doing it one more time.

We hope this exhibition has filled your hearts, expanded your minds, stimulated your imaginations… and filled whatever else you needed filled with eggplants. 🍆

But all good things must eventually come to an end.

So come get one last serving.

🍆 One last look.
🍆 One last night.
🍆 One last chance to experience Immaculate Conception in all its glory.

📅 Closing Reception: Friday, October 2
🕗 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM
📍 Black Walls Gallery
71 Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA
🪪 21+ | Valid ID Required

Thank you to everyone who came through and showed love to the exhibition and its artists.

Come help us finish it off. 🍆

I think that last line is the right closer. After “filled whatever else you needed filled,” “one last serving,” and then “finish it off,” there’s basically no way to misunderstand what we’re doing—but technically we haven’t said anything dirty. 😂

Yeah… I think we did alright.

300+ people.
Wall-to-wall all night.
Hilarious conversations.
Big Eggplant Energy 🍆
And a room full of work that deserved every bit of it.

Huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the opening one to remember.

Missed it? Don’t worry—you didn’t miss the show.

Immaculate Conception is still on view for the next 2 months, so you’ve still got plenty of time to come see what everyone’s been talking about.

See you at Black Walls. 🖤

On this eve of my birthday weekend (Sunday, 29 again) I’m overcoming my dislike of self-shots, and perhaps transmitting it to you. I’m not a good photographic subject (I thought I WAS smiling) but I would love you to see the great work up now at two Cambridge Art Association shows, at 25 Lowell Street and University Place. Life continues to be generally pleasant in the studio, on the bus, with family around and let’s hope: blue skies ahead. Best to you all and happy 29 to me!

🚨BLACK WALLS GALLERY PRESENTS🚨
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

In medieval Europe, the eggplant was feared.
Known as the “Mad Apple,” some believed it could drive you insane. Once surrounded by superstition and cultural prejudice, it eventually became one of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated foods.

It has also been used throughout history in traditional medicine and folklore, where it was believed to aid everything from fertility and childbirth to healing-a single fruit carrying countless meanings across different cultures.

For our 2nd Anniversary Exhibition, every participating artist was given the same challenge:
Create a work centered around the eggplant.
What followed wasn’t simply a collection of paintings-it became an exploration of symbolism, history, culture, religion, humor, identity, and obsession.

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 23 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Black Walls Gallery
71 Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA
D=. 21+ | Valid ID Required

See you there.
