What a fantastic evening at the 2026 Great Taste Golden Forks, the Oscars of the food world. Huge congratulations to all the winners.

I particularly enjoy this event because having judged the products blind it is so rewarding to meet the producers and hear the stories behind them. It’s also a joy to catch up with colleagues and friends and to taste some of these extraordinary products.

I’ve judged in Dorset, London, Italy and Ireland this year and am delighted to be a part of the team. Thank you to all at The Guild for making it happen. Here’s to 2027.

Extremely proud of my brother Ed for setting up @elysium_memorial_foundation to create a memorial for veterans who have taken their own lives. Today this wonderful memorial was unveiled at the @nat_mem_arb at a moving and hugely well attended service - an important and wonderful tribute.

Fortunately our plum trees have loved the hot weather and we have had hundreds of plums. Two more trees are just getting going along with the damsons so all manner of puddings will be on the table. This galette is one of our favourites and most regular treats. Find the recipe on annamayeveryday, it is beyond easy and quite delicious. There is an apple galette as well as a peach and cherry one there too.

I‘ve made this easy (sort of) cheesecake twice in the last week. It’s simplicity itself, the components can be made ahead and any leftovers are spectacular for breakfast. Recipe on annamayeveryday. I’ll make it again next week using whichever berries look best.

Could not be more proud of @gerald_may87 who is cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats (in this heat!) in a team of five. They started on Saturday and are now in Scotland for the final leg. Unbelievable work by the whole team, see @lejog4awarriors who are raising funds for @archies_warriors - an excellent cause if you can support in any way. I think yesterday was tough so send some love to the Big G.

Last week I was delighted to join the team once again to judge fabulous Italian products for #greattasteitaly in sunny Bergamo. We tasted some outstanding products and it was a joy to be reunited with Italian judges we met last year and to judge with new ones.

The team from @guildoffinefood did an outstanding job ensuring the smooth running of our judging days and looking after the whole team. Grazie a tutti.

What a fabulous parcel to receive from @steenbergsltd - such a treat, I don’t know where to start. That said…

The Chermoula blend seems the perfect shortcut for my Chermoula Cauliflower and Chermoula Prawns (both recipes on annamayeveryday) and the Harissa with rose has me considering a spiced lamb with yogurt in pita bread situation.

The Italian herbs, Lemon Chicken rub and Perfect Salt blend are calling for a barbecue. Maybe pudding could be a pavlova with vanilla scented cream topped with new season strawberries to which I’ve added a fragrant drop of rose water. I can certainly see the lemon extract making its way into some crisp, crumbly shortbread.

All ideas to consider but frankly they had me with Chip Salt. What would you cook?

These are great products that I would choose, this isn’t an ad. That @steenbergsltd is based in Yorkshire close to where I grew up is just an added bonus.

We haven’t got 60 candles so here’s (nearly) 60 dahlias instead. I don’t normally draw attention to my birthday but this one seems worth marking.

It would be wrong not to celebrate, there are friends who haven’t made it this far, and I am lucky to be happy and healthy (also nothing I could do about it!).

I did wonder if I would wake yesterday with neat grey curls like the late Queen and a bus pass waiting. Turns out I am exactly the same as ever I was and still dancing around the kitchen to the best of 1979.

Huge thanks to dear friends and family who have helped me celebrate on Friday and yesterday as well to all those who have sent me so many messages.

If regular pancakes aren’t for you this Shrove Tuesday why not try these vegetable packed ones. A great way to use up veg languishing in the fridge or freezer and properly delicious. Also, an extremely successful way to persuade veg-phobes to enjoy their 5 a day and they don’t contain any weird, unpronounceable ingredients.
