The Self

I recently participated in @lilit.alma course 'Therapeutic Photography' and was confronted with the uncomfortable task to take pictures of my Self. How to? What do I want to represent of my Self in an image? And why? Is, how I stage myself in the frame, how people from the ouside see me as well? Or do I have a completely different view of my Self than others?

Looking at these images, a weird mix of cringe and truth comes up. On the one hand, I really seeeee myself in them. Dark and Light, fun and quite intense. Big contrasts. Balance, playfulness, surrender. On the other hand, being the lightest spot in the image is a bit uncomfortable. As if it's a stage and I can't perform, but only be my Self.

My beautiful mom ♥️
Six weeks ago she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Since then she had a seven hour surgery, her first week of radio- and chemo therapy. A million flowers sent by friends, a few hundred tears and a couple more smiles.
