[Interview – Florence Bourgeois & Anna Planas]

For the 29th edition of Paris Photo, director @flobourgeoisfb and artistic director @annaplanasr share their perspectives on this year’s fair, set within the context of the Bicentenary of Photography.

Bringing together leading galleries, collectors and institutions from around the world, the 2026 edition creates a dialogue between the history of the medium and the practices shaping it today. Among this year’s highlights, Florence Bourgeois and Anna Planas discuss Thomas Ruff’s installation and a presentation from the Centre Pompidou collection, alongside the curatorial perspectives of Voices and Digital and the evolving interests of collectors.

À l’occasion de la 29e édition de Paris Photo, @flobourgeoisfb, directrice, et @annaplanasr, directrice artistique, partagent leur regard sur la foire de cette année, qui s’inscrit dans le contexte du Bicentenaire de la photographie.

Réunissant galeries, collectionneurs et institutions du monde entier, l’édition 2026 met en dialogue l’histoire du médium et les pratiques qui le façonnent aujourd’hui. Parmi les temps forts évoqués par Florence Bourgeois et Anna Planas : l’installation de Thomas Ruff et une présentation de la collection du Centre Pompidou, mais aussi les regards curatoriaux portés par Voices et Digital et l’évolution des intérêts des collectionneurs.

A preview to Paris Photo. Hans P. Kraus Gallery, works by early practitioners.

Un Clair de Lune, Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, 1826. Etching engraved by G. Maile. The following year, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce made a heliograph reproducing Maile’s print after Daguerre’s drawing making this work one of the first sketches of photography.

Following works by Anna Atkins, cyanotype photogram circa 1851-54, a portrait of Julia Margaret Cameron, William Henry Fox Talbot, photogenic drawing negative from early 1840, Louis Daguerre, ink wash drawing circa 1836, Gertrude Käsebier platinum print, 1899.
