As I finally catch my breath after twelve extraordinary days, one feeling stands above everything else: gratitude. Welcoming EXPLORA III into the world has been an incredible experience. From taking delivery in Genoa, to welcoming the very first guest to step onboard, @janniksin , to opening our doors to guests, trade partners and media from around the world, and finally celebrating her Naming Ceremony in Barcelona... every day has brought another milestone. But ships don’t create experiences. People do. To every member of our onboard and shoreside team, thank you. You have given your all. Long days, endless attention to detail, challenges solved with calm professionalism, and always with the desire to make every guest experience exceptional. Working for a family-owned company means we pour our hearts into what we do. Over these past twelve days, I have seen that spirit everywhere. In every welcome, every smile, every conversation and every act of teamwork. I feel incredibly fortunate to play a part in bringing the Aponte-Vago family’s vision to life alongside such an extraordinary team. I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved together. There are places that make an evening special. And then there are the people who make it truly unforgettable. The other evening, in the beautiful setting of Boccadasse, with the sea and the sunset as a breathtaking backdrop, I had the pleasure of attending an exclusive dinner hosted by the Explora Journeys team together with members of the international media. It was one of those rare occasions when the pace of the day gives way to meaningful conversations, genuine connections, and the opportunity to get to know one another beyond the usual business setting. Because, beyond the ships and the destinations, it is always people who make the real difference. One of the highlights of the evening was the pleasure of meeting @AnnarNash, President of Explora Journeys, and sharing a few moments of conversation with her in an atmosphere that was both elegant and wonderfully relaxed. I leave with wonderful memories, new connections, and the reminder that the world of travel is, above all, about relationships, passion, and shared experiences. In honor of #IWD2026 I’m excited to give you a sneak peek of our latest SLEEPING AROUND SAFELY episode featuring a forward thinking #cruiseline with multiple #women at the helm. Both the Master Ship Captain and Global President are dynamic #females sailing a new cruise line into uncharted waters - gracefully! Watch this episode for their inspiring interviews. The OTPYM crew and I set sail from the new MSC Cruises port in #Barcelona onboard the Explora II by @explorajourneys ⚓️. Even with a full day at sea, there wasn’t enough time to experience everything onboard. We explored multiple decks and pools, played pickleball, took a Pilates reformer class, and joined a craft-cocktail workshop complete with a smoke-bubble maker. We also slipped into what Explora calls an “Ocean State of Mind” during our time in the spa and salt room, followed by a deeply relaxing sound bath. After a cozy night SLEEPING AROUND SAFELY in the Owner’s Suite, we woke just in time to watch the ship sail into the port town of Málaga. Off the ship, we explored Mijas and Marbella, including an olive-oil tasting and a visit with the family behind Molino de Paca, sampling their locally made products. There are six distinct restaurants featuring global flavors—from Mediterranean coastal dishes to pan-Asian specialties—made with high-quality, fresh, and often local ingredients. Each venue reflects the brand’s relaxed European style, with curated wines and oceanfront settings. One of my favorite moments was a hands-on cooking class with Master Sous Chef Alessandro Paolella, who showed us how to make his grandmother’s truffle ravioli, paired with a beautiful wine. A true standout of the journey. Explora Journeys also waive solo supplements on select journeys + in this episode we meet their dedicated solo traveler entertainment host who curates meet ups both onboard + onshore. In my first 10 months with Explora Journeys, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing not one, but two triple milestones —today, the float out of EXPLORA III, the coin ceremony for EXPLORA IV, and the steel cutting of EXPLORA V. These moments represent far more than construction progress — they reflect passion, precision, and a shared vision to reimagine ocean travel for a new generation of travellers. As I shared during the ceremony: “We are not just building ships – we are taking the helm as we redefine what ocean travel can be. We are creating a legacy of transformative journeys that will endure for generations to come.” I’m truly honoured to serve as President, working alongside Mr Vago and the Aponte family to bring this powerful vision to life — and deeply grateful to our extraordinary team at @explorajourneys and our partners at @fincantieri. by @annarnash
