A cute fix for a common problem!

With our cards having coloured fronts and white backs sometimes a strip of white would appear on the wrong side of the crease and be visible on the front- not ideal!
So we’ve updated all our card designs to have these cute scalloped edges on the back. Fixes the problem. Looks cute! Win win indeed 🐞💖

When I was a kid my sister and I would float leaves on the river that ran through my grandparents farm. The game would be to see how many blackberries, nuts or rocks we could balance in them and still have then float. Like little barges they would whisk away down the current, many sunk. But some would journey out of sight. I like to think those would be manned by knowledgeable ladybirds who know their way around a boat just like this one! 🐞💕

Hooray!
I’m back at the Royal exhibition building this weekend to take part in the @thefinderskeepersmarket along with hundreds of other talented creative stall holders. I’ll be bringing my 2027 calendar for the first in person sales of it for the year. So pleased to be back at this market which opens Friday afternoon- I hope to see you there! 💖

My 2027 calendar is almost ready to be sent out! 🌿✨

In 3 days the pre-sale will end (if you purchase now you get a discounted price and free sticker! 👀) once that ends we’ll get them produced here in Melbourne and then send them off to spend their years with you! Thank you thank you friends to many of you who have already ordered. I’m astounded every year how many names I recognise from calendar sales past. Such a joy to bring these to you! 🧡

“Lily of the night sky”

In my little world the stars are born in flowers. Tiny sparks of magic that make their way slowly to the skies. They are particularly beloved by the night time creatures, moths in particular are drawn to their light. ✨

This was a joy to draw. Sometimes it’s so enjoyable to draw something really pretty! I had such fun with the dawn light in the night sky especially. 🥹

Forget me not parade! 🐝

I painted these three little bumblebee’s as part of @voluptuary_world exhibition “garden”. I had a vision of the flowers making their way out of the paper and onto the frame and I feel it came to life rather wonderfully!? This week is the last week of the exhibition being open if you would like to see it! 💖

“Snap Dragon” 🐉 💖

As a kid (and sometimes still as an adult!) I took great delight in squeezing either side of snapdragon flowers and making them talk and “roar!” Imagining they were tiny dragons. So, it was equally delightful to further imagine what a snapdragon, dragon might look like when creating this illustration! How’d you think I’ve done? I imagine them blending in amongst the flowers, a myriad of cheerful colours. Making friends with the bee’s and getting up to tiny magical mischief 👀✨

Something I’ve been musing on recently! 🧡

Striking a balance can be so tricky. I love the best parts of sharing here, but can get so easily stuck into the not so great parts ( doom scrolling, distraction, comparison!). I’ve been distracted from this space lately for honestly the best of reasons. So I thought I’d share this little update as I endeavour to find a bit more time for the best parts of life that inspire my art while also showing up here in an intentional and balanced way!

I’ll still certainly be posting my art and shop updates. But I won’t be updating stories every day like I used to. ☺️

12 months ago I started writing and illustrating letters and sending them all over the world. 💌

These are just a selection if the illustrations from these letters. As you can see the subject matter is wide and varied but themes of nature and small pleasures are the most frequent topics. There is something relaxing about drawing these each month. This sketchy style is one I’ve drawn in since teenage hood and it feels really good to carry it with me and to feature it so prominently in a project like this.

“The Whimsy Way” letter club has just celebrated its one year anniversary. And I have no plans to stop yet. Its monthly rhythm has been so enjoyable, and I’m so pleased it’s been found likewise for its readers. Thank you to all who have been part of it for a short time, long or ongoing. It has been incredible to have you along! 💕

I’ve been enjoying a little winter hibernation 😴

Life has been busy in my little world. But in a lull between projects and life happenings I’ve been taking the time to slow down and rest. It is winter here in Melbourne. Time for getting cosy and taking it easy it feels. I’ve been knitting, and listening to audiobooks (lots of Robin Hob!) and decorating our new home. But slowly I feel my cup refill with ideas for new artworks and things to share here with you all. Stay tuned xx

But how are you? Is it winter or summer where you are? 🧡
