happy birthday to my best friend! 10 years ago, May 29th didnā€™t mean anything special to me but now itā€™s the one day of the year Iā€™m the most thankful for. we now have a house full of kids who wake up on this day just excited to celebrate their favorite guy all day longā€¦ and find a new excuse just about every hour for a different treat. A year ago Steven and I were watching the Parent Trap in triage when the nurses started wheeling me to a delivery room, confirming what my pain levels had been suggesting- that weā€™d be having a baby very soon! When they placed her on my chest later that morning I felt the past couple years of losses just get sucked right up by her little bitty body and I just couldnā€™t help but cry into her thick head of dark hair, thanking the God who heard my cries and answered. she was there and safe and whole and ours but most importantly His and I couldnā€™t wait to get to hold her wrinkly hand and sing to her earthside the melody she had heard a thousand times in my belly. All my life You have been faithful. All my life You have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able. Happy September ā€” remembering 5, 3 & 5 months on this perfect night running around with my whole heart at the @theholmsteadstudio with @knoxfamilyphoto We planned this session in less than a week once I realized fall was creeping around the corner. On Saturday, I met Kayla, went into her @whiteroomknox studio, filled in the gaps for a few of us with our wardrobes & then met her at the Holmstead for a sunset session the next day! Itā€™s no Chuck E Cheese šŸ˜…, but my kids loved their day at the Childrenā€™s Museum of Oak Ridge in East TN. I had to dragggg them out of there with a little Swig drink stop bribe, which opened a couple weeks ago here in Oak Ridge as well! This is the perfect rainy day place. You can even bring your own picnic and eat inside the food hall area! Tag a friend, save it or send it. Sometimes itā€™s hard to know what to share online without adding to the noise of another person telling you what to do with your dollar. one last victory lap for our inflatable kayak from Italy thatā€™s paddled in over 6 different countries and finally lost to beaver creek!!! I feel like I came with lots of questions, left with lots of answers but mainly learned ā€” 1. go during the peak of the proper spring season (April, May) or fall season (September, October) 2. maybe donā€™t bring an inflatable kayak & go with something from @riversports instead! you can rent from them or buy! 3. bring a second car & park it at the end launch point so you can ride back to your start point and move with the current the entire trip ā€” making it more of a lazy river experience 4. this revitalized blueway is local and the launch points are new and sweet, not sketchy at allā€” letā€™s keep it this way! clean up your trash & if you see someone elseā€™s, pick it up too! 5. we parked our second car at Roy Arthur Stormwater Park on Harrell Road. drove in one car to Aubreyā€™s Launch at Powell High Landing šŸ“ 2136 Wā€ÆEmory Rd, Knoxville, TN 37849 & began our journey via kayak water back to Harrell Road. wouldā€™ve taken around 3 hoursā€” no hiccups or stops! 6. ohhh & get a coffee from @lifehousecoffee in Powell before starting your journey down the creek!! save this! share it! and leave any other tips if youā€™ve tried itā€¦ Iā€™m excited to come back this fall and try the route from Karns to Hardin Valley!! hope you all enjoy this & learn from our mistakes! #BeaverCreekKnox #FloatKnoxville #HiddenKnoxville #KnoxvilleAdventures #KnoxvilleOutdoors #HeyKnoxville #EastTennesseeExplore taken in Powell, Tennessee by @annavsimp
