Still figuring this out ~ the backs of my paintings have been in play for a long time, but I’m letting this one be inside out from the start. Been thinking of the backside as something to be hidden and only revealed in intimacy or vulgarity or defiance. The backside as something allowed to be looser, messy, and unkempt like a backyard vs a front. Business in the front party in the back. Wondering about the backs of paintings as a metaphor for the subconscious and as a place for unselfconscious mark making. That’s sort of thing. Anyway the 2 little ones orbiting are done/working.
