finishing july with lament for julia seems to be fitting. a book that has great writing but also at times was vague and shallow. an interesting exploration of girlhood or becoming a women while being kinda weird and freaky, yet there was just something missing to make it a wonderful read. july, a month that went all too fast, my memories of it are vague but i know some of it was great and an exploration of myself and kinda weird. here’s to august. taken in Houston, Texas by @annicanns

confessions by saint augustine is an interesting autobiography for the history itself. augustine tells us about his life and the sins he committed before converting to christianity. there are also tons of meditations on morals, religion, life, and other philosophical thoughts.
i hate to admit it but the book is much better before he decides to convert, while he is weighing his sins against others. but after about half, i had to drag myself to finish the book. (side note: i didn’t go into this book bc im religious, i just wanted the philosophical thoughts) although i did semi enjoy my read, i think this is a skip unless you are a practicing christian or into religion. taken in Houston, Texas by @annicanns

i thought that i was the most dramatic, moody, sleepy, annoyed person ever until i started reading the book of disquiet.
a wonderful collection of musings, philosophical thoughts, regular thoughts, multiple declarations of wanting to sleep or dream, brain rewiring one liners, paragraphs i read and reread and then reread again, written with prose and occasionally enough decency to laugh at itself.
i am glad i gave this book another try, it quickly became a favorite and now i am in search of more just like it. taken in Houston, Texas by @annicanns
