A Frozen visage, entropic extended song of devils built of solemn blue thoughts
Of aches and burns
sung to heartbreak and lapsing judgments:

I

O holy, I Am Eden’s haunting
The sky’s shade of gray, as the crumbling of the world
What terrors meet you upon the empty vase
Ashes and webs and sand collect in my hands

II

O holy, I Am Eden’s destruction
A memory only sought
Encircled snake forever
Eternity’s coil around my neck

III

O holy, Treasonous are my ways
Greater and fuller and beyond
This is the way of devils of heaven
As angels fall and land to earth

IV

O holy, I Am the hate you buried
The condoned will prevail in my wake
And the built will matter not
It happens once then is over
Then is trapped in time immortal

V

O called, O holier, drop your flags and run
Flowers bloom and frighten brides
Forged fallen bridges failed finite blisters
Cross over chaos withheld

VI

O arcane, I Am not your friend
I Am only wistful for my days to end
I Am only driven far from my self
A gulf of which is filled I drink

VII

Leave me now, holy, I Am given my soul
To cold calm blue waters that still
Watched over the darkness
By memorial love and remember and close your eyes
And see my body laid down to rest
My only wish that you once see me—

This little book felt like stepping into Frida Kahlo’s inner world—raw, vulnerable, and fiercely alive. “L’immagine era un gioco” isn’t a traditional biography, but that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s made of glimpses, letters, and thoughts that reveal a woman who used art to survive, to love, to resist. I found myself pausing often, rereading certain lines just to sit with them a bit longer.

Thank you @lormaeditore & @poveronicola for the copy ✨📚#giftedby

trying a little something different! these are the Books That Made Me (ooh ahh) 😌

excluding an 18 month period in middle school when i was simply too cool (read: angry all the time and difficult to be around), i’ve been a bookworm just about my entire life. not to brag, but as a toddler i made my mom read me daisy & the beastie (beastie supremacy) so many times i memorized it and tricked my grandparents into thinking i knew how to read at age 3 and a half. once i actually learned at like 5 or 6, it was over for everyone. i had found My Thing.

these are the books i’ve loved over the course of my life. the good (all the recent additions), the bad (i haven’t read marie antoinette’s fake diary in 20 years but i can’t imagine it holds up re: historical accuracy), and the assigned (i see your teacher’s pet and raise you the required reading i’ve five starred and loved).

thank you to @ifwewereabookstagram for tagging me yippee! if i tagged you it’s bc i want to see your answers…which either means you should do it or i know you’ve done it and this is a reminder to me to thoroughly obsess over your post. i love this tag!

do we share any core reads in common? regardless of your answer, tell me your childhood favorites 📖

alsoo, am i the only one that feels like bookstagram is not bookstagraming like it used to bookstagram? 🤧 or maybe it’s just me? i’ve been feeling in the biggest life slump ever where i’m genuinely soo exhausted, and the only thing keeping me going is books. reading. characters where the writing makes me feel like i belong in their universe, i truly belong somewhere, and am finally part of something…

q: what are you currently reading? what helps you get out of a life slump?
