I’m making my debut big band record! ✨

I began writing big band music in earnest seven years ago, when I formed the Annie Booth Big Band. Now, for the first time, I’m bringing this body of work together to make my definitive recordings, and I’m inviting you to be part of the process.

This band features a diverse, multigenerational roster of Denver musicians as well as several extraordinary, Grammy-winning musicians from across the country. And I’m beyond excited that @alanbaylock will be producing it!

I’m funding this project through a combination of grant support, my own investment, and the generosity of participants like you. Whether you join us as a Supporter or an Executive Producer, you’re doing much more than simply helping fund a recording - you’re helping make ambitious art possible.

That’s a wrap!!

The Annie Booth Big Band debut record is tracked and I am so thrilled with how it all turned out 🥲

I can’t thank my amazing band enough for bringing their outstanding musicianship to this project. Also a huge thanks to @loleedo for engineering the session and @alanbaylock for producing and for his expertise.

The time has finally come for the Annie Booth Big Band to make our debut record! 💿✨😊

The band rehearses tomorrow and then we hit the studio on Saturday and Sunday. This album has been a long time coming and I can’t wait to finally bring these recordings to life with the help of these incredible musicians.

🎉 BIG NEWS from @cuboulderjazz — Beginning Fall ‘27, we’re launching a new Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) pathway in Jazz Composition. (Stay tuned for a similar announcement about a MM Jazz Comp in coming weeks, too!)

I’m inviting curious, collaborative, forward-thinking composers and arrangers to join me in building a distinctive jazz composition studio here at our incredible university at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

I’m excited to support DMA students in their own artistic voices and research. One example of the resources and opportunities available to future students is our newly minted Jazz Composers’ Orchestra which will serve as a creative laboratory for graduate composers to workshop, perform, conduct, and record their works.

I carry a broad definition of “jazz composition” and that ethos will be central to this degree. Students will compose for both small and large ensembles, non-traditional instrumentations and settings, and collaborate across the College of Music. We will honor the history and traditions of this great music while adding new voices to the canon.

For me, it’s essential to weave in elements about entrepreneurship, career development, publishing, pedagogy, and building sustainable lives in the music industry, so you can expect that, too!
