Happy 10th birthday, @nocturnedenver 🥳

The Annie Booth Trio was the very first artist-in-residence when Nocturne opened back in March 2015 and we’re grateful to have been part of their story and them, ours.

Celebrate with us for three appearances on Thursdays this month as we dive into our deep catalog of original songs and covers and share some good vibes along the way!

I’m excited to share my latest composition, “Humble Warrior” — a six-minute concertino for solo Bass Trombone and Wind Ensemble, completed at the end of 2024. Writing for bass trombone is a special experience, and I’m really thrilled to dive into the world of wind ensemble music.

A huge thanks to trombonist Dr. Russell Zokaites (Fresno State) and Esmeralda Rocha Lozano, band director at Clovis High School, for co-commissioning this piece. It was great meeting Esmeralda at CASMEC in Sacramento last week (and catching up with Russ, though we missed the photo op!). They will premiere “Humble Warrior” on March 2 in Clovis, CA, and I can’t wait to hear it come to life! 🎶

In case you missed it, we announced the launch of Brava Jazz Publishing @bravajazz last week on int’l women’s day!

My business partner and fellow jazz composer/arranger @alanbaylock and I founded Brava Jazz to support and champion women composers + arrangers in the field of big band jazz by creating a platform for their music to be widely published and distributed.

Our catalog includes a diverse array of music for all ability levels from middle school to professional and an impressive artist roster of some of the brightest voices in jazz composition and arranging today.

You can grab my chart “Jolly Beach” up on our site (bravajazz.com) and the full catalog will be up in early April!
