A note from ANT executive director Jaime Arnett:

Recent reports of animal mistreatment in our community have been deeply troubling. As animal lovers, advocates, and professionals committed to the well-being of both people and animals, we believe there is simply no place for cruelty, neglect, or exploitation in work that claims to be rooted in compassion.

At the same time, we are seeing growing interest in animal-assisted programs and the emergence of new organizations offering services that may appear similar to ours.

As animal-assisted services continue to grow, we encourage our community to look beyond the photographs, the heartwarming stories, and the good intentions. Whether you are seeking services, volunteering your time, or making a charitable contribution, ask questions. Look for professional credentials, appropriate accreditation, thoughtful animal welfare practices, transparency, and accountability.

Good intentions are important. But good intentions alone are not enough.

We are proud to maintain Premier Accreditation status, the highest industry standard for equine-assisted services, which ensures that ANT maintains the safest, most ethical, and most effective programs for our participants. Accreditation is achieved through an exhaustive peer review of our administrative, facility, equine welfare & management, program, and service standards (including an in-person site visit & evaluation), and the year-long process must be repeated for each renewal.

Did you know you can search for shelters and rescues (and other animal service organizations) near you on Chewy, and many of them have a wish list? Just look for the "Give Back" tab and search for your area. OR you can just click the Chewy Wish List button on our website or any of our emails. by @ant_bellingham

It’s back! Our wreath-making workshop on the farm was a huge hit last year, and why wouldn’t it be? Join us this year and you’ll sip cider and make your own evergreen wreath while being supervised by therapy horses resting in their stalls (and occasionally taking a cheeky little nibble of a branch if they can manage it). Truly a one-of-a-kind cozy winter craft night for a great cause.

We are thrilled to be presenting a four-week wellness workshop for veterans this fall, FREE OF CHARGE thanks to generous support from Bellingham Sunrise Rotary!

Join us for four Saturdays where you'll work with an equine partner to:
- improve self-understanding and emotional awareness
- gain self-efficacy, coping, and mindfulness skills
- decrease feelings of stress, shame, and stigma, and
- build community alongside peers and equines.

We need more than puppy-dog eyes right now. We need our community.

Our Healing Hearts Breakfast was filled with love, connection, and powerful reminders of why this work matters. But financially, we fell short of what we needed and right now, that shortfall puts real pressure on our ability to continue the programs our community depends on.

We had the absolute joy of sharing breakfast with old and new friends (and bunnies and a chicken, of course!) at our #HealingHearts breakfast this morning!
