STUDIOLO, Milan

Studiolo is a Milan-based gallery founded in 2015 - following five years of non-profit activity - with a strong focus on scouting emerging artists, both Italian and international, and supporting a carefully selected group of them throughout their growth within the contemporary art system. With a particular focus on painting and installation, Studiolo has produced more than sixty exhibitions to date, including solo shows, group shows, residencies, and special projects, both in the gallery and through off-site projects. Over the years, more than 140 artists have been involved, several of whom presented by Studiolo at a very early stage in their careers - through their first or among their first exhibitions - and have since gone on to establish a significant presence within the professional contemporary art scene

In 2025, Studiolo founded "Coucou", a contemporary art platform - nomadic, truly independent, and unpredictable a - conceived, quite literally, to “pop up” with its projects during some of the major European events connected to the art system, as well as independently of them. Coucou brings together visions, languages, and friends of contemporary art, creating opportunities for exchange beyond the usual logics and structures of the system

Castiglioni maintains a program that connects Europe and South America, emphasizing process-based, international perspectives on contemporary art. Bringing together different artistic languages and approaches, the gallery seeks to bui by @antdmno

In Sartrean ontology, the human being is defined as the one who “creates their own nothingness.” What might at first appear to be a paradoxical and pessimistic statement is, in fact, the condition through which the French philosopher grants the human being the highest degree of freedom. Bringing into existence something that does not yet exist does not mean withdrawing from reality, but rather amplifyng it through ideas, thoughts, and intuitions that arise spontaneously from our subjectivity

But what happens when an artist engages with this inner creative act? Artistic practice becomes the space in which possibility takes tangible form; obsessed with the world, the artist acts to modify it: he negates it, not through a form of rejection, but simply to move beyond it - expressing the desire to transcend empirical reality and generate new possibilities

This is the tension that runs through the practices of Marcolin and Njima, both continually drawn to the attempt to paint being while, at the same time, leading it beyond being

see you then 👋🏻

Through site-specific, sculptural and performative interventions, the practices of Ludovica Carbotta and Jacopo Benassi, while developing through distinct languages, converge in the idea of the artwork as an open process, capable of transforming over time.

At the heart of the exhibition is Ludovica Carbotta’s new installation, Die Telamonen, a group of three sculptures inspired by the mythological figures of the Telamons and conceived to establish, each in a different way, a dialogue with the spaces that host them. Positioned between the interiors and exteriors of the historic Art Nouveau villa on Via Bosca in Canelli, these works fully encapsulate the artist’s research, which has long focused on analysing the urban landscape as a place of negotiation between humans and nature.

At the same time, Jacopo Benassi presents “Rivoluzione (musica analfabeta)”, a performative action created in collaboration with musician Michele Lombardelli and conceived specifically for the exhibition spaces. Using a flugelhorn and other wind instruments, whose sounds are altered in real time through distortions and electronic filters, Benassi creates an open soundscape in a constant state of redefinition.

COUCOU !!!

The nomadic, independent, collaborative and unpredictable contemporary art platform, back to Paris, in the Marais, from Monday October 19 to Friday 23, 2026

Alongside Milan-based galleries @cabinet_studiolo and @castiglioni___ , both returning from previous editions, this year Coucou welcomes two brilliant international projects: one curated by Berlin-based @dodopositano , the other presented by London’s @_aliceamati Gallery

For the first time, the five-day programme will also include a series of performances and other events, reflecting Coucou’s openness to different fields of practice - from performance and sound art to club culture, poetry and independent publishing

Informal and interdisciplinary by nature, Coucou seeks to reconnect with the authenticity of the artistic gesture, meaningful collaborative practices freed from exclusively market-driven dynamics, and the fundamental importance of exchange, dialogue and cross-disciplinary interaction

Our dear bunny is still chilling with its inseparable carrot… but getting impatient, checking the clock more and more often, and looking forward to sharing much more with you very soon

Stay tuned 🐰🥕👋🏻 by @antdmno

Happy to have hosted, and curated with @mcvalacchi, Joséphine Topolanski’s show “Le impronte del cielo” this spring

An exhibition that - through a journey across religion, mysticism, and science-fiction culture - explores our innate tendency to interpret the world around us, assigning to certain objects, images, or narratives, meanings and values that go beyond their mere existence 👽

PS: The exhibition has been extended through the first two weeks of July and can be visited by appointment only
