Desert Trip Festival, a.k.a. "Oldchella," took place 10 years ago. What a ride! Loved getting to be part of Promise of the Real with Neil Young 🥁🩶🎶 by @anthony_logerfo_
It was a cool night with a light mist and a full harvest moon on the rise. We had just rocked Farm Aid, Virginia Beach for 14,000 people and we were flying high hanging with the fam. Swarms of fans, musicians and media folks were trying to get our attention. We stayed huddle together near the Silver Eagle, Neil’s classic old bus. All of a sudden I heard a calm voice say “hi Anthony” and it was Max Flanders. I was excited to meet Max because he’s the current drummer in The Lukas Nelson Band. Things got more surreal as I found out Max and I are from the same hood. We grew up only blocks away from each other and graduated from the same high school 10 years apart. His cousin Brett was one of my best child hood friends who I grew up with. Max and I probably had the same brand of metronome growing up! It was psychedelic to say the least, and I was happy to meet and share road stories! Drummers are so cool and always bond but especially when they are from the same hood. It’s never competition but always a universal rhythm we share. Keep on rockin Max! by @anthony_logerfo_

Rest in Peace, Glen Hansard. I’ve been a fan of Glen for many years. His voice was soulful and his spirit always shining bright.  I was lucky to first meet Glen in his homeland, Ireland when he played on the same night as Neil Young and Promise of the Real. Glen was so kind and offered that warm Irish welcome. We got to know each other and our paths continued to cross over the years. A highlight was sitting in on “Rockin’ in the Free World,” with Ed Vedder and Earthlings when Glen was in the band. We all hung out for hours after the gig singing songs and talking story. Memories I’ll cherish forever. Glen treated everyone with kindness and respect. He celebrated life through music and connection.   Seeing all the tributes for Glen shows how many people he truly touched. The 1st photo is the last time I saw Glen at Ohana festival just a few months ago. He was full of life and love. Hayley and I are deeply saddened by his passing. We send love and healing energy to Glen’s family and community. by @anthony_logerfo_
