Anthony Guex @anthonyguex is one of the finalists in the Product Design category of the Swiss Design Awards 2024! Excited to share a first look at his nominated project.
–
𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 brings together two furniture collections designed for everyday life, reflecting an attitude of simplicity. Anthony Guex was invited four years ago on Fogo Island to design these pieces for the small woodworking workshop, which is part of the Shorefast Foundation.

Fogo Island, a remote outport community in Canada, has historically thrived on fishing, sustaining generations through self-sufficiency and a deep connection to its isolated surroundings. In response to the collapse of fishery, Shorefast was founded in 2004, dedicated to securing Fogo Island’s economic future.

In 2010, Shorefast started inviting international designers to collaborate with locals, resulting in successful furniture designs for the Fogo Island Inn. Inspired by this, Shorefast established a woodshop and studio. The first pieces in the new Premises collection, under the artistic direction of Anniina Koivu, aim to develop and promote the creation of new designs that bridge the island with international markets.
