Graphic design for “Vico Magistretti and Japan”, organised at the Fondazione Vico Magistretti. The exhibition examines how a persistent interest in Japanese culture emerges throughout the work of the Milanese architect and designer, who developed projects with Japanese clients and designers, as well as with Italian companies operating in Japan. Archival materials (drawings, photographs, models, objects, videos) are presented alongside 1:6 miniature versions of Magistretti’s furniture, produced within ECAL’s Bachelor Industrial Design programme, and representations of his Japanese architectural projects by Dogma. Two Step Two Step is a step stool. Designed as a small wooden object – both a furniture piece and a functional tool –Two Step is versatile. It serves as a small ladder, a high stool, a shelf or a side table. Rather than something to be stored away, the step stool is meant to be an integral part of the home. An everyday staple, imbued with character and purpose. Anthony Guex is a Swiss product and interior designer based in Lausanne. He began his career as a cabinetmaker before going to work as a workshop manager in the wood industry. Later, he studied interior design at HEAD⁠ Genève and earned a Master’s degree in product design at ECAL Lausanne. Anthony currently divides his time between his design studio and ECAL, where he serves as Artistic Deputy. His practice focuses on product, furniture and interior design. In October, we have reached an important milestone with Design with Japan. This programme aims to connect Swiss designer and Japanese manufacturers on tangible projects. The two first edition took place in the beautiful region of Tajimi, in the Gifu prefecture, in collaboration with our local partners from @tajimicustomtiles. @noelanirutz with Tajimi Custom Tiles, Marusen, Sugiura Seita and @anthonyguex with @miyama.mizunami worked for a year together to make prototypes of their project. The results were presented earlier this month at the CIRCLE by @place_by_method in Tokyo. Press coverage and attendance showed the interest of the Japanese design industry. This all nurish the purpose of the program: to build long term relationships and collaboration. Studio @carolienniebling and @ginimoynier are the designers of the second edition. Today is their last day of the immersion phase of the programme. They spent three weeks on site, in Tajimi to explore and collaborate with Tajimi Custom Tiles, Marusen, Ohata and Yamatsu to develop their project. Coming back to Switzerland they will further develop their designs and the prototyping phase will start early 2026. Building a programme like this takes time, commitment and trust, from all parties. We would like to thank Kasai san, Ken san, @nonohanaaa_____ , @porquerico, @naotakegata from @tajimicustomtiles, Miyama, Marusen, Ohata and Yamatsu, @davidglaettli - Mentor and sparing partner, @yamaguchi_irene - Design Project Manager and gentle-power force of the programme, the jury members Laetitia de Allegri, Matsuzawa-san, Genia Mineeva, Noriko Kawakami, @swissembassyinjapan - @jon_lam_son who enthusiastically agreed on the idea of this programme, Yuko-san, Sarah Bokman, Mizuki-san for the nice collaboration. Creating lasting spaces for multicultural, multidisciplinary collaboration and dialogue, where diverse backgrounds and goals converge, is perhaps the most meaningful path forward. 本日2025年10月10日（金）〜10月19日（日）の期間、(PLACE) by methodとCIRCLEにて、「Shared Ground」のタイトルのもと、2つの展示会を開催いたします。

(PLACE) by methodでは、Tajimi Custom Tilesによる「TILE WORKS」を開催。デザイナー フィリップ・マルイン @philippemalouin による押出成形技術を用いたオブジェのインスタレーション、デザイン誌 Capsule @capsule.global と共同開発したタイル「Metromilano」、スイス人デザイナー ノエラーニ・ルッツによるタイルシェルフなどを発表します。 タイルという発想を出発点に、国際的なデザイナーと多治見の職人の技術と想像力によって具現化されるコラボレーション。既存のタイルの概念を超え、カスタムメイドタイルの新たな可能性を提示します。

CIRCLEで開催中の「Design with Japan」では、デザイナー ノエラーニ・ルッツ @noelanirutz とアンソニー・ゲ @anthonyguex が、多治見の職人やメーカーと共に制作した試作品を展示。 伝統的な技術と現代デザインの発想を融合し、異なる文化圏の協働から生まれるクラフトの新たな可能性を提示します。
