This week’s episode comes from a very special place: Long Pond Studio. I sat down with @thenational’s @aarondessner to discuss the alchemy that’s happened there with artists like Gracie Abrams, Noah Kahan, Marcus Mumford & Taylor Swift.

The full episode drops tomorrow, 10/14! Tune in on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify. taken in Hudson, New York by @anthonymasoncbs

Singer-songwriter @ashemusic opens up about an internal struggle between Ashlyn, “the girl, the songwriter,” and Ashe, the performer, revealing how writing letters to both sides of herself helped her confront years of resentment and find a new sense of empathy.

She tells @anthonymasoncbs the emotional breakthrough changed everything and ultimately inspired her to reach out to Finneas about starting a band. by @anthonymasoncbs

For @ashemusic, working with @finneas on a record for The Favors was a method of pulling herself out of “self-doubt and angst and depression,” in comparison to her new studio album, “The Girl of Your Dreams.

“I need to make that record with him to pull me out of a place that maybe I didn’t even know I was in,” she told @anthonymasoncbs. by @anthonymasoncbs

Ashe says her new album, “The Girl of Your Dreams,” shows she has healed, after years of working through self-doubt and depression and learning how to have empathy for herself: “Maybe that's why it's clicking.”

She told @anthonymasoncbs about being vulnerable in her songwriting, her collaborations with Finneas and making “Stop the Wedding” the first single off the album. by @anthonymasoncbs

@ashemusic knew the title, color palette and even smell of her album, “The Girl of Your Dreams,” before she began writing any of the songs.

“Choosin’ Texas,” a song @mirandalambert co-wrote, was inspired by a story she told @ellalangleymusic about getting pulled over by a cop with a kangaroo in her passenger seat.

The song spent a record 24 weeks at no. 1. Lambert describes the experience as “mind blown emoji.” by @anthonymasoncbs
