AI CAN ENHANCE A PHOTO. IT CAN’T REPLACE TALENT. ✂️

Let’s talk about AI in the beauty industry.

These photos show how easily AI can manipulate hair color, shine, texture, and even the environment.

I stand behind my work. I don’t need AI to make my hair color look better than it actually is.

Do I use AI? Absolutely!

As an independent salon owner, I wear every hat. AI helps me with marketing, organization, research, and the areas where I need support.

I use AI to strengthen my weaknesses, not fabricate my strengths.

My gray blending, dimensional blondes, and color transformations are the result of education, experience, and artistry.

Clients deserve honesty, not unrealistic expectations.

Real hair. Real results. No filters necessary.

Sometimes, the secret to beautiful highlights is adding darkness. 🎨

Let’s talk LOWLIGHTS.

Everyone wants dimension, movement, and beautiful, expensive-looking color. But here’s the thing: without depth, your highlights have nothing to stand out against.

One of my favorite techniques is combining backcombing with sliced sections when applying lowlights.

Why?

✂️ Backcombing helps diffuse the placement, creating a softer transition without harsh lines.

🎨 Slicing allows me to strategically introduce depth and contrast exactly where the hair needs it.

✨ Lowlights restore dimension, break up overly blonde or highlighted hair, and can create a softer, more natural grow-out.

For my fellow stylists: Placement matters more than the number of foils. Not every section needs to be highlighted. Sometimes the most beautiful thing you can do is put the depth back in.

And for my clients: Going darker in certain areas doesn’t mean losing your blonde. It means making the blonde you love look even better.

Great color isn’t about making every strand lighter. It’s about knowing where to leave the shadows.

Georgia, do you know who certifies our elections?

It’s a question worth asking before heading to the polls.

This November, Georgians will elect a new Secretary of State, an office responsible for overseeing elections, maintaining voter registration systems, and certifying statewide election results.

Meet Judge Penny Brown Reynolds.

A former Fulton County judge, attorney, civil rights advocate, and former federal official, Reynolds is the Democratic candidate for Georgia Secretary of State.

Her stated priorities include protecting voting rights, expanding ballot access, improving election transparency, and modernizing professional licensing and business services.

WHY DOES THIS ELECTION MATTER?

Under the current Trump administration, debates over federal involvement in elections, voter registration records, and election security have brought renewed attention to the responsibilities of state election officials.

Georgia’s Secretary of State plays a central role in administering elections and certifying their results.

The office also affects SMALL BUSINESS and owners and licensed professionals, including those working in the BEAUTY INDUSTRY.

This election is about more than the names at the top of the ballot. It’s about who administers the voting process itself.

Reynolds faces Republican Tim Fleming, a state representative and former deputy secretary of state. Their approaches to Georgia’s future voting equipment differ, making this an important issue for voters to research.

GEORGIA, MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE.

Early voting begins TODAY, October 13, and continues through October 30.

Election Day is November 3, 2026.

Research the candidates. Understand the responsibilities of the office. Ask questions. Make an informed decision.

Your voice deserves to be heard, and your vote deserves to be counted.

Find your early voting location through the Georgia My Voter Page.

Your voice. Your choice. Your crown.

Georgia, it’s almost time!

We make appointments for our hair, schedule meetings, plan vacations, and somehow manage to find time for everything else on our calendars.

Make an appointment with democracy, too.

Early voting begins TOMORROW, October 13!

📅 IMPORTANT GEORGIA VOTING DATES

• Early Voting: October 13–30, 2026
• Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
• Election Day Polls: 7 AM–7 PM

MAKE A PLAN. KNOW YOUR BALLOT.

✅ Check your voter registration status.
✅ Look up your sample ballot and research the candidates.
✅ Read the ballot questions, including what YES and NO actually mean.
✅ Find your early voting location and check its hours.
✅ Bring an accepted photo ID.
✅ Choose a day and put it on your calendar.

Whether you’re in Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Johns Creek, Tucker, Fulton County, or DeKalb County, your ballot may look different depending on your address.

Visit mvp.sos.ga.gov for official voting information.

You don’t have to understand every political argument to start learning about the choices on your ballot. Ask questions. Research. Be informed.

And when you’re ready, make your voice heard.

Vote early. Make a plan. Know your choices.

Share this with someone who could use a reminder, and save it for election week!

Pride always reminds me why I love what I do.

I’ve spent my career behind the chair, and somewhere along the way I realized I was never just doing hair.

I get to be part of the moment someone looks in the mirror and recognizes themselves again.

Hair can be confidence.
Hair can be identity.
Hair can be armor.
Hair can be freedom.
And sometimes, hair can simply be really fucking fabulous.

As a gay man and an independent hairstylist, I know what it means to want a space where you can walk through the door, sit down, exhale, and be exactly who you are.

That’s what I want my chair to be.

No judgment. No assembly line. No pretending. Just one chair, one client, and a conversation about what makes you feel like you.

And then there are my redheads. ❤️‍🔥

Listen, I don’t know what agreement I signed with the universe, but apparently I have been assigned to protect, perfect, and obsess over red hair.

Copper. Auburn. Cinnamon. Strawberry. Deep mahogany. Natural redheads who want to keep that fire alive and brunettes who suddenly decide they were clearly supposed to be red all along.

I love every damn version of it.

Because great hair color shouldn’t erase who you are. It should turn the volume up.

So this Atlanta Pride, I’m celebrating the people who have trusted me with their hair, their stories, their transformations, and sometimes a whole lot more than they expected to tell their hairstylist that day.

Your hair is the crown you never take off. Wear it proudly. 🌈

Looking for a hairstylist specializing in red hair color, dimensional brunettes, gray blending, balayage, low-maintenance color, and personalized one-on-one hair services?

Come sit in my chair.

Last night I had dinner I witnessed something that has stayed with me.

A young man sitting at the end of the bar was extremely intoxicated. He could barely hold himself upright or form a clear sentence. The staff was concerned about him, and after watching him struggle, I introduced myself and offered to walk him home.

He hesitated, but eventually said yes.

It was only about a 15-minute walk, and I made sure he got safely inside his apartment.

But the entire walk, another thought was running through my head.

As a gay man, helping another man in that condition can feel strangely complicated. I was conscious of how I might be perceived. I didn’t want him, the restaurant staff, or anyone else to misunderstand my intentions. I wasn’t flirting with him. I wasn’t trying to get anything from him. I simply saw another human being who wasn’t in a position to safely take care of himself.

And because it’s Pride weekend in Atlanta, I found myself thinking about something else:

If the roles were reversed, would he have done the same for me?

I don’t know.

And maybe that’s the point.

Kindness shouldn’t require knowing whether someone would return it.

Pride, to me, isn’t only flags, parties, parades, or being visible. It’s also choosing to move through the world without allowing fear, assumptions, or differences to determine who deserves our compassion.

For many LGBTQ+ people, especially gay men, even ordinary interactions can come with an extra calculation: How will this be interpreted? Am I safe? Will my intentions be misunderstood simply because of who I am?

Last night reminded me that sometimes you make that calculation and choose kindness anyway.

I didn’t walk him home because he was gay or straight, because he looked like me or didn’t, or because I thought he’d do the same for me.

I walked him home because he needed someone to.

Maybe there’s a little bit of Pride in that, too.

Happy Atlanta Pride. 🏳️‍🌈 taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @anthonyowensalon

Being intoxicated is not consent.
Being unconscious is not consent.
Silence is not consent.
Access to someone’s body is not consent.
And the absence of a “no” is not the presence of a “yes.”

As a hairstylist, I need your consent before I fundamentally alter something as insignificant as your HAIR.

The standard for someone’s BODY should not be lower.

Believe women.
Protect women.
Stop requiring women to prove that they somehow objected enough.

Consent should be informed, conscious, voluntary, and ongoing.

And if that makes anyone uncomfortable, maybe the discomfort is worth examining.

I am Jane Doe.

The next time a client brings in a ChatGPT step-by-step instructional guide on how to perform a service. I’m playing bump and just pull up YouTube and follow along. 😂

Same energy as handing a Michelin-star chef a recipe and saying, “Step 4 is VERY important.”

Bring the inspiration. Bring the questions.
Leave the instructions at home.

Luxury is in the listening.
