✨Day 5 of 31 Days to Shine ✨

Today’s Flo-etry is a love note from Auntie Flo reminding you of something we all forget: you deserve time for YOU! 🥹

I used to squeeze in hair appointments between errands or wait until my plate was less full. But let’s be real—when is life ever not busy? 🤪

Today, I did something different. I took a full day off and went to see my favorite stylist @anthonyowensalon 🥰

I let myself enjoy every single moment. No rushing. No multitasking. Just me, soaking up some care and chatting away to my lovely friend.

Here’s your reminder: you don’t need permission to pause. Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. You can’t shine your brightest if your well is empty!

So, gorgeous, here’s a challenge: block out a little time just for YOU. Get your haircut, go for a walk, or simply sit and breathe. The to-dos will wait, but your peace of mind won’t! 💖

The lovely and amazing @anthonyowensalon convinced me that I needed a new do for my new book and he wasn’t wrong!!! It’s amazing how a sassy new style will make you feel and it’s the perfect match for my next book, Dear Meno Pause. Poems From the MenoVerse to Say You’re Not Alone or Cursed - available at week today!!😬💖

Today’s affirmation- I am courageous and I am not afraid to share my truth 🔥 I love how well @youresuchacatch knows me - this has been the best gift that keeps on giving! 💖💖 If you saw my post yesterday, you’ll see that I was pretty vulnerable and shared my truth about my thoughts on mental health and a situation that changed things for me.

How do you feel about this affirmation? How and where are you being courageous in your life and how is it helping you grow? xx

From the outside, and you might hypothesize that the hardest part of my job is one thing or another. However, sometime the most mundane tedious tasks can make us want to jump out of the first floor window. For me, there is no sexy way to put on gloves after your hands have been wet. I don’t care how dry you think they are latex will prove you wrong. Is there anything more humorous than watching a 40-year-old man struggle for 20 minutes to put on gloves just so your hands can still be stained from the water that seats inside of the glove. 🧤 #madness #salonlife #latexgloves #beautyindustry #AlpharettaStylist

Hair color fading is a common concern for many people who dye their hair. There are several reasons why hair color fades over time:

1. **Washing frequency**: Washing your hair too frequently can strip the color molecules from your hair, causing the color to fade faster. Try to wash your hair less often and use color-safe or sulfate-free shampoos to help preserve your hair color.

2. **Heat styling**: Excessive heat styling with tools like flat irons, curling irons, and blow dryers can damage the hair cuticle and cause the color to fade more quickly. Try to use heat styling tools on a lower heat setting and use heat protectant products to minimize damage.

3. **Sun exposure**: UV rays from the sun can lighten and fade hair color, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors without protecting your hair. Wear a hat or use hair products with UV protection to help prevent color fading from sun exposure.

As for three common errors that can cause hair color to fade out faster:

1. **Using hot water**: Washing your hair with hot water can open up the hair cuticle and cause the color molecules to escape more easily. Instead, use lukewarm or cool water to wash your hair to help seal the cuticle and preserve the color.

3. **Using the wrong hair products**: Using hair products that contain harsh ingredients or sulfates can strip the color from your hair and cause it to fade faster. Opt for color-safe, sulfate-free hair products to help maintain your hair color for longer.

By being mindful of these factors and avoiding common errors, you can help extend the life of your hair color and keep it looking vibrant for longer.

That proud moment when you’re mixing color and turn around and catch your client taking a picture of the dates that you have scheduled for her next appointment. If you’ve missed one of my previous videos, I post my clients next appointment dates beside my Salon mirror. I give them 4,6,8 and 16 weeks options from the date of their appointments so that they can choose their next visit and services before they leave that way I do not have to clamor at the end of the service to figure out the dates it’s already done in the morning. Here’s to preplanning, thinking ahead and putting yourself first. #atlantabeautyindustry
