A new school year. And we want to do more.

We are thrilled to be starting our new school year in Heron Hall Academy, Enfield Grammar School and the John Warner School.

Our goals for Guide Me are simple:
🎯 Reach more schools
🎯 Support more young people
🎯 Support teachers and pastoral staff with resources
🎯 Build more compassionate school communities

Young people codesign everything we create.
Codesign is a core value that guides everything we do.
All of our resources and workshops are co-designed with young people who have already been through the programme. We think this is what makes it really work.

Grief is now on the curriculum and Guide Me is back in schools too.

Apart of Me is thrilled that grief education is now a compulsory subject on the RSHE curriculum. We passionately believe that schools need to talk about bereavement, so that young people who experience the death of someone they love don’t feel they have to hide it.

“Extraordinary kindness, courage and leadership.”

This was one teacher’s reflection on the difference Guide Me made in their school last year.

Guide Me doesn't just create a space for young people to explore their own grief. It gives them the confidence and tools to help make their wider school community more compassionate too.

What difference can the right grief support make?

Guide Me helps young people to better understand their experience of loss. Their feedback shows clearly that the programme works, helping them to
build self-compassion, feel more connected and less alone, and
Have more confidence talking about their experience of grief.

And 9 in 10 would recommend Guide Me to another grieving young person.

52 young people in therapeutic groups, 1,056 young people reached.

Last year, Guide Me directly supported young people across six schools in Enfield and Hertfordshire.

Those young people then shared what they had learned into their wider school communities, creating opportunities to talk about grief, connection and compassion.
The ripple effect reached 1,056 young people.

Guide Me is our school-based programme supporting young people whose life has been turned upside down by the death of someone they love.
Over 12 weeks, young people come together to explore their grief, connect with others who understand and find ways to support themselves and their wider school community.

From the mountains of Peru to young people around the world
The Apart of Me game has been downloaded in more than 50 countries, inspiring supporters like Parv to take on extraordinary challenges to help grieving young people feel less alone.
Here’s why Parv chose to support Apart of Me:

“I spent 4 incredible days hiking the trails to the majestic Machu Picchu. The experience was everything I hoped for, pushing my limits through stunning mountain landscapes, surrounded by the best group of people. I met amazing new friends along the way, had fantastic guides who made every step feel safe and special, enjoyed delicious Peruvian food, and soaked in the full camping adventure under the stars.

We asked young people who have experienced the death of a parent what they wished someone had said to them on days like this. Their words inspired this collection of Grieving cards.

Sometimes reaching out feels difficult. Sometimes we worry about saying the wrong thing and end up saying nothing at all. These cards are designed to make that first step a little easier.
