⭐️ WOO HOO! ⭐️ Just a quick note to say that “we did it”! Yes, Cookie Connection won the award for Community of the Year at the @dlicious_magazine Awards last night, and I couldn’t be prouder of and happier for all of my Cookie Connection members!

As I said in my short acceptance speech, “I think we all know the expression ‘It takes a community . . .’ You could fill in the blank with so many things, but that statement couldn’t be truer, in my opinion, than when applied to online communities. There’s no denying that it takes many, many people to build and sustain a productive and happy online community, especially one centered around advancing members’ learning and growth. So that said, I have a few (wink, wink) very important people to thank. First, all 18,000 (!) Cookie Connection members who actively participate each day by selflessly sharing photos and decorating tips and advice. And second, my small team of volunteer contributors - Manu, Patricia, Senola, Gabi, and Samantha (and so many others over the years) - who have kept the community humming with wonderful tutorials, challenges, member spotlights, and more. I may have created the shell (or skeleton, if you will) of Cookie Connection, but my members and contributors are truly its heart and soul, and this award belongs to them! Bravo to my team!

Last but not least in my halloween roundup, 3d jack o’lantern transfers (and the teeniest spider). Perfectly sized to adorn a Reese’s peanut butter cup (as pictured here) or any other halloween treat.

Technically, this isn’t a Halloween cookie, but it scratched the itch in the middle of summer when I couldn’t wait any longer. I’m including it in the roundup because that little skull transfer could work for so many halloween designs.

When I first designed this cookie, I intended to suspend the web vertically in a cookie frame so you could see the spider from both sides. I chickened out after making the spider transfer. No one can see it now, but she does have a red hourglass on her abdomen. Despite my fears of fragility, this cookie is still standing strong in my kitchen 4 years later.

We’re coming up on my favorite cookie holiday of the year. I’ve been revisiting my old halloween tutorials, starting from the very beginning. This one from 2018 feels like ages ago.

This is not a cookie. It’s my first go at making crepe paper flowers. I used a tutorial from @signe.scharling and it was fabulous! Her instructions were detailed and easy to follow, and the final result is every bit as gorgeous as she promised even though I’m a complete noob.

To all my cookie friends, I found crepe paper flowers to be similarly meditative in their repetitive laboriousness (I mean that in the best way possible). Highly recommend! #paperflowers by @apronedartist

🪻COOKIE CONNECTION ALERT! MAY TUTORIAL BY APRONED ARTIST!🪻

Most cookiers are probably familiar with the stained glass effect, and each cookie artist likely has his/her own way to do it. But how many people know the pros and cons of using glucose versus corn syrup? In her latest tutorial, @apronedartist (aka Samantha Yacovetta) not only provides a comprehensive comparison of the two approaches, but also decorates this stunning art nouveau-inspired iris cookie along the way. For the step-by-step tutorial and the results of Samantha’s glucose and corn syrup experiments, jump on over to Cookie Connection via the link below. ⭐️ Also, a huge shout-out to Devon Byerly of @sugarcatcookies for inspiring Samantha with her eyeglass cookies to write this post.
