⭐️ WOO HOO! ⭐️ Just a quick note to say that “we did it”! Yes, Cookie Connection won the award for Community of the Year at the @dlicious_magazine Awards last night, and I couldn’t be prouder of and happier for all of my Cookie Connection members!

As I said in my short acceptance speech, “I think we all know the expression ‘It takes a community . . .’ You could fill in the blank with so many things, but that statement couldn’t be truer, in my opinion, than when applied to online communities. There’s no denying that it takes many, many people to build and sustain a productive and happy online community, especially one centered around advancing members’ learning and growth. So that said, I have a few (wink, wink) very important people to thank. First, all 18,000 (!) Cookie Connection members who actively participate each day by selflessly sharing photos and decorating tips and advice. And second, my small team of volunteer contributors - Manu, Patricia, Senola, Gabi, and Samantha (and so many others over the years) - who have kept the community humming with wonderful tutorials, challenges, member spotlights, and more. I may have created the shell (or skeleton, if you will) of Cookie Connection, but my members and contributors are truly its heart and soul, and this award belongs to them! Bravo to my team!

Two years in the making ❄️

I first attempted these royal icing transfers a couple of years ago, and they just never came together the way I had hoped. After the big snow here in the Carolinas last week, and Bella insisting on making snow angels, I was reminded of this design and decided it was finally time to try again and see it through.

I am so glad I did.

There is something so sweet about these cookies. The transfers take extra time and a whole lot of patience, but seeing it all come together is always worth it.

Full credit for this adorable cookie idea goes to @apronedartist. I believe she was the first to create this design, and her cookie artistry is truly unmatched. I am always grateful for the inspiration she shares.

Sometimes it just takes a little time before an idea comes to life. 🤍

🥇First place in the 3D cookie category, and a Gold Ribbon💛 based on a point system calculated on difficulty, techniques, precision, interpretation of colour and originality (scored 94.5). ALL elements required to be edible.

🏕 Cookie Connection Alert! June Tutorial by Aproned Artist! 🏕

As @apronedartist (aka Samantha Yacovetta) exclaims at the start of her tutorial, “School is finally out. The days are long, and the nights are warm. Let’s go camping!” And so we shall – with this most magical campsite cookie!

If you want to stretch your royal icing transfer skills, this cookie will surely do that! It starts with a nod to @manubiscottidecorati’s ongoing stenciled royal icing transfer challenge on Cookie Connection (link below) insofar as the tent is constructed entirely from several such transfers. Samantha then goes on to use pressed and stacked transfers to create the pine trees, and piped and filed transfers to create the rocks in the landscape. And, as usual, her cookie project contains countless other fine details! Check it out below!

Christmas is over, and yes it’s only 57° right now, but it’s still winter, so I’m still making winter content. Cool? Cool. 😊

(P.S. I had the idea to make snow angel cookies like a week ago, so I looked online to see if anyone had ever done something like that…

Which led me to @apronedartist ‘s snow angel tutorial. Cannot believe I haven’t seen her work earlier. 🤯 Literal genius. 😮‍💨

And these cookies were much more time-consuming than I anticipated, so I only made two. Also I’ve never made a snow angel before. Or seen snow. 😅)

Jellyfish Lambeth • this one was inspired by a jellyfish cookie by @apronedartist. The jellies are made out of rice paper and noodles • cake guts: sweet corn cake, honey buttercream, homemade peach jam, cream cheese mousse, caramelized cornflake crunch • colours (royal blue, navy, ocean) from @colour.mill • white lights surface from @replicasurfaces.
