Justice through a coronial inquest?

Join us from 1PM - 2PM (AEDT) on Tuesday the 6th of October online for a conversation with Dr Latoya Aroha Rule from the Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education & Research and Apryl Day from The Dhadjowa Foundation about supporting families through the coronial process, and whether justice can ever be found within colonial systems.

This conversation will be moderated by Natalie Ironfield and Lauren Caulfield.

'Justice through a Coronial inquest?' is a fundraiser for the loved ones of Eimable Manirakiza, raising money to support them to attend his coronial inquest this year.
You can also donate to the fundraiser directly - link in bio.

Please also consider making a donation to the Dhadjowa Foundation to sustain their ongoing inquest work supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families whose loved ones have died in custody. taken in Online by @aprylday_

Just a Koorie girl at Harvard 👉🏽🥹👈🏽

Blessed and grateful to have experienced this program at Harvard Business School as one of the two First Nations delegates from so-called Australia in the 2026 cohort, alongside Indigenous leaders from Aotearoa, Canada and the US.

During the week we unpacked Indigenous governance, economic self-determination, investment, negotiation and nation building and what it means for our communities to build futures on our own terms.

One of my favourite moments was seeing a Gunditjmara nation building case study within a Harvard classroom. To see our stories, leadership, governance systems and resistance recognised as serious models of sustainable development was truly a special moment, I felt so proud.

Not because these institutions validate us, we know our people have always held sophisticated systems of governance, trade and collective responsibility but because Indigenous knowledge and leadership belong in these spaces too.

The biggest reminder for me was that nation building and economic self determination are deeply tied to sovereignty, caring for country and our future generations. Strong nations are built through strong governance, relationality, culture, long term vision and community led decision making. It’s never just about economics. At its core it’s about protecting our people, caring for Country and creating futures where the next generations can thrive in self determination.

Left with a full notebook, a fuller heart and deep gratitude for the conversations, cultural exchanges and knowledge shared 🤎 taken in Harvard Business School by @aprylday_
